Randomly came here with a group of friends looking for lunch after doing axe throwing at a place nearby (yeah, apparently axe throwing is a thing!). Anyways service was a little slow but the staff was friendly. They had a lunch deal where you pick something from their lunch specific menu and you can get a beer for $2. I... More

Ordinary food and kind of primitive and outdated. A large menu too many colours and pictures and many options of desserts. Non of the desserts on the Menu were on display on their "entrance fridge" which as empty and no appealing to say the least. I ordered the "Pate chinois"; I've had better. My friend has the Crock Monsieur or... More

I walked past this place yesterday and it looked interesting so I went back today for a late lunch. The staff were welcoming and the atmosphere was quite rustic and bohemian. There was a vast menu, which was a little overwhelming. There was a partial English translation, however this could have been broader. I ate a sandwich that came with... More

Had a business lunch here. The menu is a little too big as there are too many wonderful choices. Lots of vegetarian choices and healthy options. Portions are good and food tastes fresh and homemade.

We had lunch here and the waitress was prompt, friendly and courteous. The location is great for people watching and enjoying the sun on the patio too. The food was good and I would definitely eat here again.

Amazing cakes/desserts. Friendly service. The decor is a mixture of baroque, 60s and 70s USA plus African safari motifs. And it all goes together seamlessly! Love the food and the ambience.

Enjoyed sitting out on the patio watching the parade of people of Rue St. Catherine. Good service, tasty paninis.

Had escargot for the first time, actually pretty taste, but the star was the coffee drinks. Very good and great service. Everyone was super nice and had a nice crowd.

Not our first time there, and this time went only for coffee and great desserts! Have been there before and their sandwiches are always fresh. Great ambiance where you can relax and not feel rushed at all. Service is excellent! Will definitely return and recommend 1000 Grammes!

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
