Used to be my favorite sushi place, so I was very happy to return. Well, the new location is ok, but has no ambiance feels like a cafeteria, the service was to say the rushed as far as the interaction and slow to be served. We ordered uni, only to be told once served that they didn't have it (no... More

The very first time I had sushi was in San Fransisco 25 years ago and this was a memorable almost religions experience for me. Fast forward to September 2016; the same can be said for my visit to Mikado with my wife last night. The first thing we observed was the clientele. So many loyal customers who absolutely love the... We were looking for a place to celebrate my mother's 89th birthday and having been at Mikado before, we were sure it would be perfect. We were not disappointed. We asked for a quiet spot and had a lovely round table in a pretty corner just for the six of us. The service was attentive, sushi excellent, plus the teriyaki... More

I was kind of disappointed at how slightly above average Mikado is. We waited more a long time for our drinks, while there were only 2 tables to serve at that moment, one of which was us. When it was time for sushi I wasn't impressed by the lack of creativity and not to say taste. Nothing extraordinary. We would... More

While I had no major complaints about any of the numerous sushi items we sampled on our Thursday-night visit to Mikado, nothing stood out as being above average. I was pleased with the quality of the uni (sea urchin), but the tempura shrimp and soft-shelled crab were on the oily side, and I’ve certainly had more succulent octopus sashimi. Flavour-wise,... With an apparent unpleasant attitude, lack of attention of our attendant to orders was obvious,. One of my guests got chicken for a vegetarian Sushi he had ordered, other guest had to ask several times before he got the juice he had ordered for his child. Our attendant served wine for two missing the third guest. The service was slow... More

This is our go to sushi spot. The food is consistently excellent and the price reasonable. Service is always very good and welcoming. We recommend the shrimp gyoza and seaweed salad.

Traditional sushi and sashimi is generous and delicious. Ask for specialty dishes not on the menu; they are inspired and wonderful. Good friendly service, and one of the few Montreal restaurants where you can hear what your partner and guests are saying in normal conversational tones.

Thank Roy W

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
