We go to Montreal at least twice, sometimes three times a year to visit family. During every visit one of the must stops is Café Ferreira. The food is excellent, appetizers are great, wine is delicious. Last weekend we were there again, eight of us. Arrived on time to our reserved table at 6:45 sharp. Our waiter came to our... More

My daughter and I had lunch in the cafe today, Good Friday. The meal was delicious, the service friendly and the atmosphere relaxing. Although you sit in close proximity to those around you, it still seems intimate. The food is prepared with love, and is very tasty; lots of original flavors and layers of it. A nice getaway for my... More

Seafood appetizer for two and grilled Greek bass was fresh and full of flavour. The desert for two featured 7 tasty items. Excellent wine list. Our meal was excellent for quality an freshness but left nothing to the imagination for culinary excellence. Our $300.00 bill seemed high for what reminded me of eating on the algarve.

This was my second trip to Ferreira, this time was for a business dinner. I love seafood and the Portuguese have unique preparations that are very enjoyable. I had the sardines and shared a whole grilled Dover Sole. Service was a bit slow (as it was a busy Thursday night) but overall very attentive and the food quality was excellent.

Recently had a meal with a group of 16. Service was average and waiters seemed rushed. Had to order a drink twice before I received it. My lamb was dry and overcooked and the French fries were average to poor. For a restaurant in this price range I expected exceptional food and presentation which was not what I experienced. My... We had one of the best lunch in Montreal. Very rich menu, nice selection of wines and friendly service. It was not most crowded lunch hours so we could relax and had excellent service. Great location.

Every time I travel to a new city I try to find a nice restaurant to enjoy some local food but this time in Montreal when I was checking some restaurants I run into this name, "Ferreira" so Portuguese. I decided to have something to remind me from home. The restaurant is very cosy and it definitely reminded me of... More

So we went for a friends birthday on a friday night (we were a group of 10). Service was so long (had to wait 30 minutes to get our drink after ordering, even had to remind the waitress twice). She looked like she had way too many people to take care of, I feel like they should hire more staff... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
