We happened upon this restaurant two years ago and enjoyed it immensely. Back in Montreal this year and returned. It did not disappoint; the food and the service were as excellent as on my previous visit. Two visits, two years apart, two excellent meals. This has become a go-to restaurant for me on future visits to Montreal.

We had supper here as a family. The food was excellent and well priced for the area. The only food criticism I have was that it wasn't at all spicy but having spent time in Asia I like spicy food! Very welcoming to the entire family too.

We went because of proximity to our hotel but will go back next time we are anywhere near Montreal. Everything the three of us ordered was excellent, the ambiance was upscale as compared to all the other Indian restaurants I've been to, the prices were reasonable, and the service was friendly & attentive.

We arrived in a snow storm the day before New Year's Eve. Parking is a but tricky here but no fault of the restaurant. Perhaps, walk to the restaurant is you are able. Service at Ghandi is a busy restaurant but the staff is prompt. Menu is traditional and wide. We needed to cut dinner short because our plans for... More

Location - We were staying near the Notre Dame Basilica and it was a short walk. Very easy to get to. Just a block or so off of the water walk. Food - Very good. The quantity was large so my daughter and I split a serving of Chicken tikka masala and it was perfect. My husband didn't quite finish... More

Referred by our hotel, this was a very enjoyable meal for our whole family (including 3 children 12, 10 and 6 years). Very friendly service ensured the children's tastes were catered for and that we ordered just the correct amount of food - no over selling. Comfortable room, good and reasonably priced wine list.

We had a very enjoyable dinner here on a cold November evening. Indian food can be like comfort food on cold nights. The wine list is actually reasonably priced. We ordered a Zin with our meal. The owner is from Bangladesh. We therefore do not recommend the Biryani. Their Biryani is more like a rice pilaf. We had chicken curry.... More

Excellent food and service. We enjoyed the Onion Bhajee, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma, Kashmiri Rice and Peshawari Naan. All full of flavour and highly recommended. Our server Arbab was friendly and courteous. Wine prices were reasonable and the decor is very inviting. Would definitely go back.

What a spectacular find. Restaurant Gandhi offers a sumptuous selection of superbly spiced Indian cuisine and personalized service in a warm and inviting atmosphere. When we return to Montreal we will certainly return to Restaurant Gandhi.

Quite busy on a Saturday night even in low season November. Although we didn't have a reservation they found us a table for 2. Many groups were there; so great place for 6 or more group. Service was quick and very polite. Warm cotton towelete given at end of meal; nice touch. Food was very good. Definitely recommend. Make a... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
