We went out for dinner at work... I ordered my meat medium rare and it actualy came chewy and burnt on the outside...i would assume that for 60$ a plate the tatse would be great which was not the case. I returned mine; as did a few of my colleagues also and the manager was nice enough to exchange it... More

Nice location in old Montreal, neat building. Food was good and portion size definitely filling. Only disappointment was not having anything on tap, bottle only.

We went to dinner with 15 people at one table. The food was very good. The service was outstanding - friendly, efficient and very professional!

Gibbys is as traditional a steak house as you'll find anywhere. Situated in an old building, it's a charming location. We were seated in the lower level which is cozier than the main level. We all hand various cuts of steak and all were delicious. It was a surpirse to find excargot on the menu. The ceasar salad was great. The... More

The menu is very extensive, to appeal to the bus-load and tourist crowds. A number of items seem to be prepared and flash-frozen to be reheated; meaning a loss of freshness. The atmosphere is party-like and the décor is in a very old building which was repurposed quite a few years ago.

This was our third visit to Gibby's. Yvon B was our waiter and from the moment we were seated he took exceptional care of us along with other wait staff. Arriving is always a treat because you stop right in front of the restaurant and the valet opens your door, you get out and they park your car for you.... More

Have been going over the years with friends and family. A little pricey but have great seafood and steaks. Restaurant used to be old horse stables so plenty of history there, explained with plannograms around the site. Take at least a couple of hours to eat and visit around the site.

Excellent food, great service. The atmosphere is great. This is an old stable that was restored. About a 20 minute walk from the Delta and well worth it. There are slight hills both ways

Thank Gary M

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
