Steak of various cuts was the dinner of choice for most this night. We were a large group without a reservation. The food was great, as was the service. A good spot for a good meal and glass of wine.

My partner and I recently visited Montreal, and were absolutely floored by the cuisine (in general). We intended on treating ourselves to a fine dining experience while were in the city and ultimately chose The Keg down at the old port. Our server Julie could not have been more accommodating, and the food was outstanding. We both tried escargot for... More

Sometimes you are looking for something reliable, easy and convenient. The Keg met all of those criteria. The host was upbeat and accommodating. Our waiter was helpful and prompt. The menu was varied and of reasonable cost for what was provided. We would come back.

We visited The Keg for dinner on a quick family trip to Montreal for the weekend. The space is lovely- spacious comfortable, a nice mix of casual elegance. The service was attentive and very responsive. We ordered the Sirlion Oscar, the Sirlion and king crab, the prime rib sliders- as well as the garlic shrimp appetizer and each was delicious.... More

We recently visited The Keg on a family trip to Montreal. We booked it through the TripAdvisor online booking system, which worked out really well. I received an email confirmation of our booking, and the restaurant had record of it! The Keg is in Old Montreal in a charming part of the city and certainly lived up to its name... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
