We arrive in very busy time, but the owner make accommodation for us. Great service. Our waiter Kevin 10/10. He gave us very good recommendation. Rack of lamb exquisitely cooked . Mussels where with a wonderful sauce.... Just to smell them was a pleasure. Everything make this place a very good experience in Montreal.

The food was delicious and the overall service was out of this world. Lorenzo (the owner) went out of his way to make us feel very special at his restaurant. I was simply amazed how he was able to remember our names especially because he meets so many different people on a daily basis. Francois (our waiter) was very delightful... More

Our waitress, Alexandra(?) was sweet and patient and efficient. The live music (Stephanie) was awesome. She sang in English and Spanish. Not too loud, we could still talk. Two in our party had the lamb, very good. I had the steak and frites. Steak was a pounded steak and was over cooked. My friend had the oysters and was over... More

Went in for an afternoon drink and was presented with a large wine list.. server recommended a few, let us try them, and he was bang on with the recommendations. Note that you will be asked to sit at the bar if not ordering a meal. We had the cheese plate and it was fab. Would love to visit again!

The live blues music was a nice touch to this lovely restaurant in Old Montreal. We had an lovely dinner with our two teenage children. The lamb chops were excellent and the pasta dinners were very nice. Our waiter was very attentive.

We went for a "Blues" night. We had a great time. There was a lively bar scene. Dinner could have been better. My specialty dinner salad had many tasty components. But,the lettuce was limp and over dressed. A pasta dish was rather"ordinary".

We chose the Moldavie whilst walking through Montreal's old town and looking for something to eat during lunch time. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere, a menu that offers as well a good selection of starters as main dishes and a really impressing list of American, French and Italian wines ... All food and wine were of high quality so... More

Not much options for vegetarians. Super super expensive. Ordered alfredo sauce plain pasta for kidie order it cost $12 that's a lot for such a small portion and no toppings. Would not recommend for vegetarians at all. This is the restaurant that I didn't feel like tipping as the servers were also moody.

Description
Seven nights a week, local bands take the stage at Montreal's hottest Jazz bar and bistro. Modavie's spirited setting sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
