Mother's Day and no one in the place. At least it was quiet , unusual for a Montreal restaurant these days. Vodka martini straight up was like water. Wine was warm. Lackadaisical service, probably due to lack of diners. Appetizer billed as lobster in puff pastry turned out to be some lobster, sweetbreads and an insipid brown sauce. Waiter did... More

I was part of a tour group of thirty and am used to not getting the best meals because of the group size, time restrictions, price control, etc...all the things that are part of being in a traveling group. The meal at Renoir was such a pleasant surprise. It was a meal I would have enjoyed for a special occasion... More

The food was absolutely great and represented a good selection of local cuisine. The service is also impeccable and the staff are friendly as well as professional. I would eat here multiple times during each stay in Montreal and, except for the chicken club sandwich that always seem to have chicken pieces that are too tough, I usually enjoy each... More

We are staying here and just arrived after 6:30 Pm. Love the hotel and the food was absolutely great. We had the ribeye, it was the best ever and love the service and the waiter.

Stayed at the Sofitel and had breakfast in Renoir both mornings and drinks one night. Service was efficient, timely and pleasant. Will definitely visit again next time in Montreal.

Atmosphere and design of restaurant is upscale but still comfortable casual. We just had a couple drinks at the bar. Margaritas are excellent. My partner had some sort of lemon martini which was also very good. It left her wanting more! Look out though. Kinda expensive. $50 all in for two drinks!

The theme of the brunch was Lyonnais cuisine, along with the chefs. The foods was well presented and kept fresh and plenty. The meats, sauces, and salmon was outstanding as well the nice fresh pastries. The service was fine once seated however full house and a little long to get the coffee. Other than that, it is still a great... More

This resto is a great looking space and the food was excellent - although the brunch/lunch menu was a little limited on the lunch side of things. The service was brutally bad. Resto was not busy, but we waited forever to have our order taken, never received the drinks menu we requested, waited a long time for the food, and... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
