Many Asians are having a quick and inexpensive lunch here. Chinese tea ( dim sum) is served with a few girls pushing carts filled with delicacies. They are charged by the plate. Sometimes you have to flag them down so they pass in front of you. Service is fair as the waiters always seemed so busy when you need tea... More

I went here for Dim Sum to celebrate New Year's Day with family. It was a Sunday so this place gets packed very fast. By 12pm on Sunday, there will be a wait to get in. It is located on the second floor of a small shopping area (I wouldn't call it a shopping mall or a shopping complexe due... More

This is a very old traditional Chinese restaurant in Montreal Chinese. We have brunch on a cold day. The dim-sum were not very good, and the service was below average. Only the BBQ pork was good. They offer free coffee in the dim-sum table.

We go every year to Ruby Rouge and we've always loved the dim sum- lots of variety good service and very reasonable. This time however, we were a large group and they put us in one of the private rooms. It was great because it was quiet, we could talk easily. The down side was that very few food trolleys... More

We vacationed in Montreal in August for 2 weeks and ended up eating here 5 times. This place is awesome and everything that we tasted was so good. First, we were attracted to this place walking around and seeing a sign on the door that the lobster was 2 for $38. (after 5 pm) They prepare it very well and... More

This place is crowded with locals and lots of cards rolling by with tasty fried and steamed items. The price point is great, lots of good stuff for the kids. Even a few green items, and particularly the baby bok choy.

We came to this restaurant for yum cha on a Sunday lunch time. The restaurant is huge and it was packed with people. The quality of food was very average but not too bad and the price was cheap. For two of us, we spent under 30 dollars and we were satisfied.

While in town for one day, we headed over to Chinatown for lunch. We almost missed this place as it's down a side street. My wife spotted the "Dim Sum" sign. As we approached, there were many Chinese patrons leaving -- good sign. We walked in and the place was packed! If you've never been to Dim Sum before, the... More

We went out with some old friends from Montreal and had a delightful Dim Sum meal here. Unfortunately the staff could be more polite. I picked up the Bill and while paying entered a 10% tip. The waitress acted shocked and insisted that I pay 15%. I didn't wish to create a scene, so I paid it. Had we been... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
