This is an authentic Japanese restaurant, owned and operated by a Japanese owner and most Sushi chefs are also Japanese. Almost everything on the menu is nice. I go out of way to squeeze this restaurant into my schedule at least once a year during visits to Montreal.

With all the buzz going for the numbers of Izakaya's all over the place in Montreal, where it's all elbows to get in and it seems a contest for the loudest room, I think traditional Japanese cuisine has been sort of lost in the shuffle. That is too bad! If you want an authentic, well made and delicious Japanese dining... More

Dined as a party of four. The welcome was OK, but thereafter the service went downhill. Menus not explained, sushi/sashimi choice list arrived 30 mins later. Overall it took 75mins plus from arrival to any food appearing. Tables arriving after us were served earlier. The quality of the rolls was OK but nothing special. Will not rush back. Heard that... Not many people know about the awesome eatery. It's one of my favourites and the food is always mouth watering. I've been going for years so I recommend to anyone debating about it.

Sakura has been my go-to sushi purveyor for over 15 years, and I’ve never had a less-than-fine meal there. In a city with no shortage of trendier sushi joints, there is definitely a need for a veteran like Sakura that quietly goes about the business of supplying a very wide range of classic à la carte sushi options. On our... More

If you are from Japan, ignore my review. Go there and then read my review and tell me where I made mistakes. I am an otaku. My love of Japan comes not from anime or manga, but from meeting people from Japan and experiencing their behavior and their food. I have had experience with sushi in New York City, Florida,... We had dinner at Sakura Gardens and very much enjoyed the meal. The service was highly attentive and prompt and the food excellent. We had edamame, lobster, salmon and udon noodle soup and all were made to the highest standard. Highly recommended! ATB LIG

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
