This is an all-around class act. From the minute you walk in until the minute you walk out, you have the entire staff's attention. And yet, it is not stuffy or pretentious in any way. The entrees are simply phenomenal. Get the Table d'Hote....for $39 Canadian you get a three course dinner that is simply marvelous. It changes every day... More

We'd already made reservations at the Hotel Bonaparte (see separate review) and were looking for a place to enjoy the fine cuisine Montreal is known for, so we were pleasantly surprised to learn that one of the highest-rated restaurants in the city was right in our hotel. We made our reservation via OpenTable about 30 days in advance and had... More

As guests of the hotel, we ate a total of 9 meals at this "gem" of a restaurant in Old Montreal. The menu has offerings of every kind. The atmosphere, dishes, wines and staff are first rate. We were so pleased about our lovely experiences at the Bonaparte.

We had a lovely evening here. The food was excellent and not that pricey for what it was. Had we not had a very loud American woman beside us, it would have been even better, but that is not the fault of the restaurant! It is a lovely setting with an extensive wine list.

We went on a busy Friday night for dinner and were not disappointed. The service was warm, knowledgeable and efficient. The menu was explained well, and the wine selections made based on our meals and price point were spot on. The apps and desserts were lovely, but the main meals deserved the most praise. Our table got two steak dinners,... More

A wonderful meal with my wife and son. Two of us had the very reasonable prix fixe three-course. Food was delicious if not super creative. Beautiful presentation. Salad was ordinary, soup terrific. Mains: duck breast with maple syrup felt like Canada with a French twist (as we desired in Montreal). Apple tart dessert was divine. Staff were helpful, friendly and... More

This was our 3rd visit to this restaurant in the last year for a special occasion; this time it was for my wife's birthday. On the first 2 times, the restaurant surprised us, the food was great as well as the service and ambiance. Not so much this time, service was poor (they seemed to be short-staffed), food was average,... More

Found this restaurant to be lovely with excellent, attentive service and delicious meals. Not your average run-of-the-mill hotel restaurant. Highly recommend a trip to the Bonaparte.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
