Best smoked meat sandwich with sweet potato fries ever. It melted upon contact! Could only eat half. Friendly, warm staff. Lively atmosphere.

Classic restaurant for authentic Montreal "Smoked Meat" sandwiches. This is a must-try for all fans of deli food. It's a unique variation similar to pastrami, but with different spices and they slice it by hand for a great texture.

Nothing fancy to look at when walking by but the food is worth stopping for. It was busy and the decor inside is from the 70(s) but that is OK. I had the all dressed poutine and when it came it looked small but after eating it you were definitely full ( almost too full about an hour later). friend... More

Smoked meat sandwiches are a must do in Montreal and this is the place to go. Been about 5-6 times over the years whenever visiting Montreal and it is never a disappointment.

My buddy and I wanted to try both Dunn's and Reuben's, which we did. I had been to Reuben's numerous times, but not Dunn's. We wanted to do a new comparison challenge though - to try the medium fat (not medium) smoked meat sandwich. Medium fat seems to offer a bit more taste, and the meat literally melts in your... More

Is Dunn's the originator of Montreal Smoked Meat? Or is it Schwartz's? Or maybe Reuben's? It doesn't really matter. Dunn's is as good or better than the others, and what I love is that you can take it home in from 1kg boxes with 6 individually portioned vacuum sealed bags inside. Drop them in boiling water for 7 minutes or... More

but I wish they would stick to what they do (did) best. The menu is long, featuring many strange combinations with nods to a multitude of cuisines. We went there specifically for the smoked meat. It was a busy mid week lunchtime, lots of locals, a few tourists, all age groups but heavy on the "guys who lunch'. We both... More

Extremely friendly helpful staff. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Although we didn't get back to try the smoked meats we did enjoy a relaxing breakfast there.

I had lunch here this week and it was so good I went back the following day for dinner. Very good smoked meat and the fries are the best. The beer is cold and the servers are friendly.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
