This was our 4th time visiting Chuck Hughes' restaurant. The first 2 times it was wonderful, the service, the ambiance, the food were all outstanding. The 3 time we were forced to sit at the bar while another table was empty the whole time that we were there and the food was not so good. The lobster risotto had way... More

As soon as we walked in, we could tell the place was really cozy and warm which is perfect if visiting in the Fall/Wintertime. They had a roaring fire right at the entrance of the restaurant! The food was hit and miss, we wanted to order the hanger steak and were told they just sold out of it. My pet... More

We loved the seafood plateau. It could have offered more varieties of shellfish, but the oysters were excellent. The octopus with chorizo and the jerk crab were quite nice too.

Most delicious scallops and oysters ever!! Great cocktails, wine and cozy atmosphere. Go here at all costs!! Construction sucks so make sure you know where you are going cause there is no signage...

Thanks to Sam, the bartender, my wife and I enjoyed a fabulous experience this week at Garde Manger. Sam was attentive, witty, and made perfect recommendations over the course of our evening. If you are visiting Old Montreal, Garde Manger is a the place to go.

My young lady friend and I visited on a Sunday night. We were fortunate to get a reservation at 9 PM for their second seating. Fortunate indeed. A team of fantastic front-of-house staff led by our server Sasha treated us to a lovely night out. The room is beautiful and the vibe, complete with loud Tupac tunes was original, quirky,... More

This cozy restaurant with friendly staff has the greatest seafood in Montreal. Presentation is outstanding and accoutrements accompaniments are unique. Make a reservation or go early to sit at the bar. Really enjoyed this restaurant and highly recommend it.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
