For the 3 days that we spent in Montreal, we made good memories over this holiday weekend until our last night here when we chose this so called "Mexican place". It came highly recommended and we had loved the restaurants that we had chosen so far. After a long walk, we finally came to this place and loved the decor.... More

Awesome vegan food. Great comfort food. Had the poutine which was extremely well balanced and was finger licking good. Probably the best poutine of the trip. They had some interesting cocktails too. The Kale caipirinha was delicious. The atmosphere and the service was exceptional. The only drawback was it took a very long time for the food to arrive, nearly... More

It's funny that I only made it to Lola Rosa today after so many years coming to Montreal. My daughter lives just next door (she kept me telling for a long while now whether I had already shown up at the restaurant). Never checked in before today. Did it, at long last! Always passed by and wondered (looking through the... More

I always pass by this place because I used to live near the McGill Ghetto during my first year but I went here for the first time (since I got a $20 gift card expiring soon) with one of my best friends and it was a very pleasant experience. We were seated immediately after entering (I mean it's the summer,... More

Had a fine lunch here. $10-$12 (C) entrees were reasonable and very good. Curry and quiche were delicious, even a very good cuppa for $2. While I may miss my flexitarian diet, places like this affirm that there is good life as a vegan ahead!

Stopped in here to sample some of Montreal's best veggie fare. In an online article, this place was noted to have great poutine that wasn't on the menu when we got there. But the rest of the food was great, so it made up for it. The tomato tarte and burger were especially good. I also liked that all the... More

This is clearly a favorite with the local college crowd so be prepared to wait outside. The food here isn't anything fancy, but it is quite tasty. I really enjoyed my curry, which was super flavorful and not overly spicy (I'm a total spice wimp). Sadly, I don't think my boyfriend liked his burrito as much. The one big downside... More

First timers in MTL. Got the nachos which was a lot for 2 people despite being the smaller size and the burrito. The nachos were amazing with excellent amount of veggies and beans. The burrito was well done with a nice topping of avocado and a side of rice and salad. Highly recommend will definitely come back!

My second visit to Montreal and I went back to this (now well-known to be) excellent small vegetarian restaurant. For that reason it was packed and a 20-minute wait for a seat. However, once you are seated, service is friendly and the food options always tasty. The samosas were innovative - filled with a variety of veggies (not just the... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
