First, this restaurant doesn't serve alcohol so you can bring your own wine. It can be very crowded by night but it's worth the visit. We've been there a few times and each time, it was very good. Prices are good. You can chose more food and bring it back home. I really enjoy the place.

I found out about this place on Mtlblog.com. It was mentioned as a really good Indian restaurant so i decided to try it out with a friend. There was a long line to wait in to get a seat. Usually a restaurant that is really busy tends to be good. We were first asked if we wanted to sit at... More

I used to eat at Bombay Mahal restaurant monthly. Bring your own wine, cheap prices, authentic indian cuisine. One of the best restaurants in Montreal IMO in terms of quality vs price. Unfortunately the last few times I have been the food has not been up to par as to what I am used to. I believe vitcims of their... More

The butter chicken is delicious and I suggest to enjoy it with their naan, extremely light and perfectly made. Go for their mimosas and have a classic Mango lassi. The place is extremely simple and some renovation could help attracting a younger clientele, but please be sure that I rarely had such a pure and not "western" approach to Indian... More

We love to cook Indian food at home, and so can be quite choosy about spending money out on Indian food - Bombay Mahal is so worth leaving home for! All the great South Indian specialties, like rava dosa, vada, idli, etc., as well as lots of other good choices. Some items can be spicey, but there's always great yogurt... More

Visited this restaurant with a group on weekend trip after receiving a recommendation for it. When we arrived we were offered group specials, which we were told included unlimited entrees, and when we seemed hesitant and asked to see menus instead, we were told we couldn't have any. Confused and hungry, we finally assumed our waitstaff had our best interests... More

Honestly the best Indian food I've had in the Western Hemisphere. Every single dish we got was delicious. Not dumbed down or overly sweet. The butter chicken stole the show with its delicately seasoned buttery flavour and its tender breast meat. We also had chicken biryani, saag paneer, Chana samosas, onion bhaji, veggie samosas and aloi ghobi. Highly recommended. (Take... More

We discovered this place nearly 10 years ago and we very rarely visit Montreal w/o eating there or taking some take away. Excellent value, plus it's BYO! I dare say they serve the best butter chicken in Canada... I would even say as good as those I tasted in India (although my trip there was 12 years ago). I do... More

I went to a lot of Indian restaurant in Montreal, this one is my favorite (and Indian’s Oven in second). Like almost every Indian restaurant the decor and the service is so-so. It’s a 'Bring your own wine policy'. After 18:00 expect a line-up because it’s get crowded rapidly. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious! Everything is great on... More

We are on a roll to try every Indian restaurant in the area. So now this was our second indian resto and it was good. Our first one was better and less expensive. The good thing about these restaurants is BYOW. There are all so busy that you need to go early or make reservations. We had a little of... More

Staying in Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension

Neighbourhood Profile
Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension
The most ethnically diverse of all of Montreal's neighbourhoods, Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension (or, Parc-Ex) stands at the city's centre, a hub for rail and metro traffic. Starting at the old station where the Canadian Pacific used to disembark, the brick-and-mortar surroundings of Parc-Ex have a homey feel, with leafy lawns and bicycle lanes seamlessly incorporated into the landscape. With prominent Greek and Spanish communities, Greektown includes the tastiest stops for brochettes and shawarma, and local bars entertain an excitable soccer fanbase. Jerry Park and Stade Uniprix stand ready for sports diehards to enjoy a game, while the the Complexe Environnemental Saint-Michel and Le Taz skate parks invite athletes to train and compete. Though built for the active and best by day, Cirque du Soleil, the TOHU center for arts, and the Le Boulevard shopping centre offer diversions for those who wish to stay late.
