I dined here with friends in February. The menu is very varied (entrees and mains), the waiting is not long and the dishes exquisite and adequate in quantity. Service is very attentive. There is also a lovely dessert menu. The atmosphere is also very pleasant.

Excellent food, excellent service and magical setting. However, there is something missing, not sure what, just something in the ambience of the place.

We were 3 people and a fourth showed up for a light lunch. We all had a different entrée and dessert. It is not cheap and no portions are not enormous but the size that we really should be eating! We all tasted each other's dishes and it was all fabulous. Great healthy delicious food.

Beautiful decor. Service very good and good vibe in the place. Food was underwhelming for the price and really nothing exceptional. Decent but not worth the price.

I had reserved a table for 2. We went there it was very cosy and authentic. Food was delicious we ordered Hodja with naan for appetizer and Husami and Suleyman for our main course. Very filling too!

we went there expecting very fine food but were very disapointed. very small portions of appetizers combined to lack of taste (humus) or uncôoked spanakopita does not begin well. the lamb roast was dry and chewy. the shish kebeb was ok but the rice bland. for an average of 33 dollars a dish ... it becomes hopless and not acceptable.... This restaurant is a perfect place for discovery. The ambiance is oriental (music and design). The prices are fair and the service is impeccable. Seek the tables outside when the weather is cooperative. Now the food! Anything with lamb is just terrific..and Am vegetarian.!!! This is one of the rare places I eat meant in, since I know they are... More

Rumi had some of the most delicious middle eastern food that I have ever eaten. The Yaffa squash dish with tahini was amazing as was everything else we tried. Vegetarian heaven in a beautiful setting!

If Rumi were near me, I would find an excuse to meet someone there once a week. I ordered numerous dishes with my date, and was relieved that though a religious Sufi establishment, they offered decent wine. In fact, the waitress was specifically helpful in guiding me to a wine I was looking for instead of the not-quite-a-Pinot Noir one... More

Staying in Outremont

Neighbourhood Profile
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theatre productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighbourhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
