On a recent visit to Montreal with family, and hailing from the Netherlands where I grew up and became very familiar with Indonesian cuisine, we went to the Nonya for dinner. Excellent choice. The food was delicious. The staff graceful, bilingual and helpful. A bit on the pricey side.

A friend invited me to try this place and of course given that I had never tried Indonesian cuisine I gladly accepted. We arrived around 8:30, the restaurant was not full, so lucky us we could be seated at the terrace (which was very nice btw I particularly liked the lights). We ordered a selection of Indonesian specialties and everything... More

We picked this restaurant based on the reviews of other diners. And we also wanted to try other cuisine besides French. The restaurant is in a very residential neighborhood. Parking is a real pain the neck because only cars with special tags can park on the street. Ask the manager for a special secret place to park. We wanted to... More

We went to this restaurant and we were ( 4 ) all extremely pleased. It's a small and cozy atmosphere with Indonesian decor. The food was amazing , try the Rendang so tender,. The dishes were all beautifully presented by very friendly staff who would oblige with any questions. Will be going back for a traditional Rijstafel menu next time... More

The curb appeal of this restaurant is a little tatty. The interior could do with a little fix up. We were tired and hot. We ordered a good drink and had a lovely Indonesian meal. It was quite delicious and nicely presented.

On a day trip from downtown Montreal with my husband, we stumbled upon this while going to Jewish quarters. We are blown away at such a culinary treasure. Great service, ice cold water which we don't get it most restaurants here, and delicious food.

I'm not a big fan of Indonesian Food. I've been there so that I know what food is like. It's pretty ok. They are so nice and cozy. It was clean.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
