I do not recommend this place ever ever ever! Worst service ever coming from a manager. The owner/ manager Jorge is very rude- I am shocked by the way he talked to us. A very disrespectful man, who sadly lacks a lot of professionalism towards his clients. A perfect example of a manager that clearly does not get the fact... More

This small busy cafe serves up great distinctive food and the staff are very accommodating. The natas, small creamy tarts, are as good as any we have had in Portugal. A real find in downtown Montreal!

Always love stopping for casual lunch in this portugaise cafe. Caldo verde is great, their lamb sandwiches as well. Sometimes on he menu they will have grilled cod which is worth it. A good glass a wine from the owner's winery, finish this lunch with a natas. Always packed and seating is not the most confortable, but for a lunch... More

We ordered cottage cheese + fruits, omelette. Good food but nothing spectacular. Service was friendly, nice atmosphere with Mediterranean music played in the background. Problem: the seating is cozy with other patrons.

This is a lively busy little spot where the locals go. The 1st time my wife and I had their version of the omelet. It was excellent. It was a Friday so the place was really busy. We returned on Saturday and this time I had their breakfast croissant. It was the most buttery and flaky croissant I ever had.... More

The concierge at my hotel recommended this café for lunch. Tuna burger was delicious..probably best I've had. The lupini and olive salad reminded me of food from my childhood. Love the Portuguese custard tarts!!

Suggested by our concierge, we escaped here for coffee and a breakfast snack. What an adorable cafe, with a bustling very European feel. (So, very Montreal.) I had an espresso, croissant, and fruit, and my husband enjoyed a cappuccino and smoked salmon bagel. Food was good, not great, but good. Staff was attentive, efficient, then left us along to enjoy... More

Underlining the cosmopolitan nature of the city this is a useful spot for a decent coffee and pastry, with a slight Iberian twist, if you're in the area. Efficient and charming service behind the counter.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
