Loved this place mostly for the outside dining. I love to "People Watch" and this was a great place for doing just that. The food was good and a not expensive. We went there for lunch, and to get out of the rain. I ordered a fruit plate and vegetable plate. My friend ordered the same. The food was good,... More

Just off Place Royal, this small cafe offers some terrific local Québécois dishes. The Lamb shank is a must. A very good value not to be overlooked. JDP

Lasagna was had by all. Food was decent. Waiter was a little pretentious.

I have eaten several times at Delice du Roi and liked it well enough to arrange a dinner for 30 people. It is quite simple and unpretentious. The chef is quite good at bistro food, and his Quebec meat pies--especially the one with duck--are hearty and delicious. He has a great nose for value in wine, and, unless you are... More

We read the recommendations here and thought we would give it a try. We have 2 kids (5 and 7)....we went in were given a table inside upfront (not hidden in the back as had been our experience in Quebec City thus far). The food was delicious...especially if you are looking for traditional fare. Onion soup was so good...filet mignon... More

We enjoyed the thick dark bowls of onion soup on a rainy cold day. The downside was that the bowl was only half filled but the great flavor went a long way. Would go back for the soup. Didn't have a big menu and little charm.

My wife and I accompanied our five nephews, ages 10-13, for their first "French food" experience. The restaurant is a simple bistro in a 1682 house in the Vieux Port neighbornood. Karin, our server, gave them good recommendations and a great time. We had the yellow pea soup, a Quebecois staple, the halibut, a pasta dish, and a very good... More

This is a really excellent little place. Cozy and inviting, with great food. Quebecois food through and through, but that's why you travel - to taste the local food rather than another ceasar salad. The staff is truly genuine, and very accommodating of my limited French language skills. We had pea soup, followed by duck tortetiere - perfect melt in... More

This is a small but excellent bistro in the lower city. It is quiet and intimate and you can sit by the fireplace on a chilly evening or outside in the sunshine for lunches in the afternoon. The food is simple but excellent and very quebecois. The service is wonderful and friendly. It was our favourite meal of our trip.

Delice du Roy is located in an 18th-century structure in the Lower Town portion of Quebec. After checking a menu, my traveling companions and I decided to have an al fresco dinner here: what a mistake! Like many touristy restaurants in Quebec, Delice du Roy provides English menus (and English-speaking servers) for tourists. The menu ranged from pizza and salads... More
