This is the place for you. No dogs, no big rucksacks, no muddy boots, no changing in the toilets, no food after 2.00pm. Beer garden deserted out the back, everyone standing out front as no dogs allowed to walk though.

The beer garden is shut until the grass dries out due to all the wet weather we have had. If you dont like us thats fair enough , thousands pass through our doors every year that do.

I had supper at The Crown while on a hiking visit. They have good beer and excellent food, and are walker friendly.

4 of us had just finished a 10 mile walk in snowy wintry conditions. We wanted warm and a beer before going back to our hotel. We walked in late afternoon, and were the only ones in the pub. A fire was roaring away which...More

We are staying in Horton and visited on a Saturday evening for. something to eat and drink. The food was great and the beer very well kept. The meals are traditional pub food that are well prepared with generous portions. We had the steak and...More

All i can say is our locals were totally appalled by the behaviour of yourself and your group. Totally disrespectful to others around you. Starting to play a guitar at midnight with other residents up above trying to sleep. Not even asking first if it...More

We’ve found a pub in the heart of the Dales, that is possibly the most unfriendly! Looks welcoming from a distance - we’d passed it a few times so drove up from Settle for Sunday lunch. At the door you see a barrage of negative...More

A friendly welcome from the bar staff and an extensive pub menu was the order of the day at The Crown. My special of beef casserole was served with a variety of fresh vegetables and was very tasty. The sticky toffee pudding came with a...More

I very, very rarely write 1 star review, but this place thoroughly deserves it. It looks like a classic, cosy pub from the outside. On the inside, the staff were inhospitable and seemed unfriendly to a bunch of muddy walkers who had just finished the...More

Popped in for a drink after walking pen-y-Ghent, we pasted 3 people huddled in the porch because dogs aren’t allowed in the beer garden, I must have ready 20 signs don’t do this or that! Next in came, a couple with their parents and young...More

Lively pub food in a hiker's paradise. Good beers, excellent fish and chips, tasty desserts. Just the place to go after a day on the hills.
