We called in after a day on the hill, and were wet but not muddy. The place is covered in signs, don't do this, no walkers in this side, don't do that, no dogs. No wonder we were the only people in on a Sunday lunchtime. We were not made to feel welcome at all. I wouldn't be surprised if... More

It beggars belief how someone that came in soaking wet to the skin, covered in mud, can go and write a review like this. This weekend was horrendous weather, no one with an ounce of descentsy would have walked in to a pub the state you were in. We allowed you in, we served you a drink and you paid... More

Staff were really friendly, the food was hot and tasty. We had chips which were yummy. The decoration of the bar was quirky with stuffed animals and not to my taste, could do with updating. The loos looked new and the only modern part of the pub.

We called in for a beer on the way between the station and the campsite. The place is completely unwelcoming, with numerous signs saying what is not allowed. Bar staff were fairly unhelpful when other customers asked whether they could have the wifi password. In the end we only stayed for one beer, and I certainly won't be going back.... More

As pubs go this isn't sparking but as a village pub it's probably excellent. Didn't try the food but food selection of drinks and friendly staff

I popped in on a winter's Friday evening for supper. My first visit here. Friendly, welcoming and fairly enquiring hosts received my trade. The dinning area was fairly spartan, but this did not bother me. A nice cosy fire was burning away as I placed my order. This being Haddock & chips with a lager shandy. A short time later... More

This pub, its fare, and its owner are all great! We had a delicious roast lamb and an interesting conversation with the man himself. Great experience!

Arrived early on a cold November night. Bar man/chef/waiter (the same person) wasn't expecting any additional customers but provided us with delicious pies, lasagne and puddings ( the treacle sponge is wonderful!!) We had a lovely evening chatting to the chef and other customers

We called into The Crown for a bite to eat last night. What a lovely friendly pub. There was something on the menu that I wanted but I didn't want chips, there was absolutely no problem with that, I was offered two alternatives instead, nothing seemed too much trouble. The food was freshly cooked and there was plenty of it.... More

The Crown is quite possibly the most unwelcoming establishment I've had the misfortune to come across. No welcome, no food (despite the sign), not even a hot drink on a cold wet day, and an instruction to sit on a hard timber bench in the 'other room' rather than the upholstered seats in the public bar. Needless to say we... More

We had parked in Horton in Ribblesdale and done a 6 mile strenuous circuit climbing to the top of Penyghent. By the time we had returned to the village we had worked up a good thirst and were looking forward to a well deserved celebratory pint of real ale. My friend who is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable CAMRA member had... More
