Four of us had a superb lunch at The White Dog. Two of us had the beef and stilton pie, one had scallops and one had chicken. All of the food was freshly cooked, piping hot when served and absolutely delicious, and the portions were very generous. Service was friendly, ambiance was comfortable. Really top notch all around.

Went back to white dog after about 8 years absence. Amazed to find the interior hasn't changed, very welcoming atmosphere. Easter Saturday evening very busy, but the service was good and the food outstanding with a wide range of choices. We use to come here regularly first time about 30 years ago, but only stopped because of distance from Hastings.... More

We've eaten here several times but recently it's been a bit of a disappointment as the food has been average. We stopped by for a quick lunch and tried one of their ciabattas which was just ok and the chips were too greasy. It seems the food is quite variable here now. Not sure what's going on - there's no... More

This really is an excellent English bistro pub in a pleasant village. It is no surprise that it's a main listing in the Good Pub Guide 2016. We only came across it after visiting Bateman's and went in on the off chance so really delighted with this lucky find. Menu choice is good, wll-cooked with friendly, efficient service. So don't... Sat in the lovely garden enjoying a view over bodium castle and chatting to neighbour who supplies the pub with beer from his tiny micro brewery in the garden, The food on offer was of the highest quality and the atmosphere inside the... Have driven past so many times but never ventured in but my lovely hubby said lets pop in. Lovely from start to finish, great friendly welcoming staff, great menu choice and good service. Food although only toasted sandwiches were lovely, nice garnish and a small side of hand cut chips. Kitchen door was open so was on display to customers... More

Mother's Day meal was excellent. Food was hot, tasty and enough of it. The atmosphere was great, very busy and the service team had a warm welcoming smile. Great job

Got a table by the bar at the last minute and suited our family of 1 teenager and 2 under 5's. Great log fire burning away and the beautiful smell of hops from the ceiling. We had the roast beef dinner and it was lovely!! The carrots we sliced really thinly with herbs and sage which was a nice twist... More

In common with many places they offer a slightly restricted menu on Sundays, hence only 4 stars. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and we were able to order (and receive) the 31 day aged beef to our liking (rare in our case)

Description
The White Dog Inn is a family-run country pub, serving good food and real ales. We do our best to source local, seasonal produce and have a seasonal menu, as well as specials. We offer bar, restaurant, outdoor or private dining and will do our very best to cater to our customers' needs. Children are welcome and we provide high chairs and a children's menu. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, but must be kept on a lead. If they are well behaved, we even have a tin of treats! Regular live music nights are put on and can be found on our Facebook page or website. We also host a Pizza Night on Thursdays where you can enjoy a freshly prepared pizza made in our very own pizza oven!
