Proper old Cornish pub with wooden benches outside the front. Looks welcoming from outside. Mostly friendly staff but atmosphere spoilt by unfortunate loud music. Also at times seems empty. Heard good reports about food but not eaten there for some time.

This is a delightful pub with a very warm welcome. The food is wonderful and mainly based on the freshest of fish. The owners and staff are very friendly.

We as locals love this pub. The food here is consistently good. Visited on Saturday night and had the freshest most delicious monk fish that we have ever had in even the most expensive of restaurants. Nothing fancy, just simple and delicious. Perfection !!

Lovely hearty food, friendly staff and the cheapest Sauvignon Blanc you will find. The Tolcarne is the only other decent pub in Newlyn but it is expensive, £7:50 for a large wine. Had a great New Year here.

Gusiness pie was great whilst being washed down with some good ales. We also took opportunity to play a few games of pool which was something we... More

Ignore the decor and pool table and continue in for the best crab soup I have had. The staff were lovely too.

We drove past this establishment several times, saw the reviews and decided to give it a go. After tackling suicide hill and almost being wiped out by a maniacal driver, we found a park beside The Red Lion. On entering there was 1 person sitting at the bar. The bar attendant /cook asked us what we would like. I asked... More

Very friendly pub with great food. What a great choice of lovely, fresh, tasty food. We had the fish pie which is just how a homemade fish pie should be, full of lovely fresh fish and the crab salad which was extremely tasty. Would highly recommend eating here, lovely view from the window and it is dog friendly and everyone... More
