We were here for lunch recently. The pub serves unpretentious food which can be enjoyed outdoors if the weather is warm enough. Their sandwiches, made with Hobb House bread, are simple but hearty. The landlord is friendly and welcoming.

I had the nachos... It was so good. Big portion for 6.50. I would say that the 'chilli' is not really like a chilli, but given that they don't have it anywhere else on the menu, it was pretty good. The sandwiches were also VERY...More

We have visited several times and enjoyed well cooked food. It's pub type food ( not fine dining) but portions are good, tasty and there is something for everyone. On our most recent visit, friends were drooling over the beer and steak pie. All this...More

This is a popular pub so firstly you need to book in advance. Once you have ordered at the bar relax with an excellent pint and anticipate the goodies to come. And they are good! There was a mixed grill on the 'specials board' which...More

Great nachos, burgers, fish and chips and proper lasagne (not the boiling hot in a boiling hot oval dish type, rather the type that can stand up alone). Perfect informal dining.

I love this pub. There's a great selection of drinks, if that's what you're looking for. There's also an extensive food menu, all of which is perfectly presented. Compared to the local Butcombe competition, i.e. the Swan at Rowberrow, there really is no comparison if...More

A lovely pub and good pub food. Good selection of beers etc.. Very popular and best to reserve a table if you can. Slightly limited menu (shame about it being on card and sticky!) but all seemed good and can especially recommend the Butcombe steak...More

Called in for lunch while walking the Strawberry Line. I had the chilli baked potato which came with a nice side salad and creamy coleslaw. The chilli was made with big chunks of beef and was delicious. My husband had the Cheddar and cider pickle...More

This is more of a pub grub type of place and this is reflected in their menu. The restaurant area was pretty busy but in spite of his - the food came out pretty quickly. I had the beef and ale pie (excellent) and my...More

Old fashioned coaching inn dating from 1480, with the expected smattering of traditional beams, fireplaces, and traditional accoutrements. The Lamb is the focal point of the town, situated in the heart of the square, and opposite the famous King John’s Hunting Lodge.
