This lovely and very busy Country pub near Hawkhurst and very warm and cosy with its open fires. Nice friendly staff offering good service and providing excellent food and beers/wines. A must book before you visit as very popular.

This restaurant has been recommended by a few friends and after a couple of disappointing lunches at a past regular haunt in Hawkhurst we thought we would give it a try. Excellent! Great ambience good , friendly , non intrusive efficient service. Varied menu with...More

Enjoyed the Gin Masterclass. Very disappointed in the nibbles which we were served. I really don’t class baskets of bread, a few olives, small bowl of mixed nuts and a couple of slices of ham a very good example........and this was between four! I expected...More

From parking the car you imagine this will be rather special. The far reaching views over the Weald of Kent and a large welcoming atrium beckons. Despite being a reasonably large lunch party there was no one to guide us either to the bar for...More

We eat at The Great House a fair bit as the food and atmosphere is fabulous. We had a roast lunch on New Years Eve and it was delicious! I couldn't choose between the beef, pork or lamb, but luckily there is an option the...More

My partner and I was looking forward to eating here. After first visiting the potting shed. Which we both was very pleased with the food. I'm afraid the great house came out short of our expectations. My partner had the venison burger. Which was dry...More

I live near Hawkhurst, so can't help with the B&Bs. As to eating places, I haven't recently been to any in Hawkhurst itself, but would recommend the Bell at Ticehurst, not far away, and going down to Hastings on the coast... More

The Great House pub and restaurant, between the Kent villages of Cranbrook and Hawkshurst, is set in some of the most celebrated countryside in all of Europe. Within its own superbly kept grounds, this 16th century inn more than lives up to its location with roaring log fires, ancient beams and Mediterranean inspired terrace for summer time al fresco dining, leading on to a typically Kentish garden, complete with aromatic herbs and a lynch gate. The Great House is known throughout the area as one of the loveliest places to dine, earning awards for its food and its atmosphere, offering not only a wealth of wines and well kept beers on tap but a full, delicious menu of both old fashioned British favourites and contemporary, exotic dishes, each made using locally sourced, high quality and fresh ingredients. A real family favourite, The Great House welcomes children with a specially composed menu of tempting but healthy options in smaller sized portions.
