We came here for a family birthday and luckily got a table thanks to a cancellation. The waitress explained that although they would be slow with service it would be worth the wait with their home made cooked food. So we had high hopes of what was to come. We had the nachos to start and it was absolutely covered... More

We came in to celebrate a massive birthday and the pub was already quite full when we came in. Fortunately that day they had a booking for a big group that cancelled so they gave us that table which was very kind of them to do so. The staff were very welcoming and they even had a nice chat with... More

We booked here for Easter Sunday and managed to get in for the 12.00 sitting, although asked for the table back by 2.00pm (I hate that). Nonetheless, at 11.45 we were part of a large group waiting keenly for the doors to open. Everything was very efficient. They serve a full menu as well as the Sunday roasts. Food arrived... More

Stopped here for lunch with my husband and dog. Very friendly, lovely garden to sit in. The lunch time menu was great. Very relaxing start to a few days away.

Stopped for lunch after a long walk on Sunday. sunny day so garden very busy, has fish finger sandwiches and Bacon and egg sandwiches. Food came out promptly, very good, big doorstep sandwiches demolished by hungry kids. Pleasant lunch.

Great food and very friendly staff. The pub has a nice traditional feel to it with a good atmosphere. There are a number of areas inside where you can eat..... with open fires.

A brilliant selection of meals on the menu made it difficult to choose what to order. The food was excellent with lovely friendly staff. We took our labrador with us and it was no trouble when we asked if we could move to a more appropriate table which became free so she could be tucked away under the table. Everybody... More

My wife and I have drank and eaten here on many an occasion. We find the staff very friendly, and the food good as well. This is a truly good old forest pub. We thoroughly recommend it, quite advisable to book at the week-ends, though we have always managed to get seated.

We stayed here for one night on the way to visit relatives. Our room was a comfortable size with a large bathroom, overlooking the garden. It was quiet after the extractor unit outside the window went off at the end of the evening. This is a very old pub, quirky and with lots of character, but the room could do... More

We stopped in the middle of a cycle ride - 18 miles, more hills than we had anticipated! - so were pleased it was a friendly place. The meals were around £12 for a main course. We chose starters which we supplemented with chips- very hot and crispy. It worked well for us. Most tables were taken by 1pm. We... More
