This is a small, unpretentious, family-run restaurant conveniently located close to the famous curved bridge of "La Barra" outside Punta. I visited at my host's suggestion because it's pet friendly and did not regret it. They serve only a handful of fish and red meat dishes as well as whole-grain specialty pizzas. The 'corvina negra' with grilled veggies was tasty... More

We come here every summer, and never regret. Nice little place with good food. No fancy, but definitely worth going to.

Over The years this has proven to be a consistent and relaxed place. Good service, good food and just off the too busy part of la Barra

This rustic seating environment with a fire in the fireplace is well-suited to their kitchen that revolves around a wood-fired oven. We had their ever-delicious home made bread and the ginger-carrot soup is always a hit. I can't say enough about the service. The waiters are excellent. We have been here many times and have enjoyed great many flavorful entrees.... More

Heard this restaurant was very good. Was not disappointed! I had the citrus chicken which was slow cooked with vegetables - excellent! Everyone else ordered something different - pizza, Chicken Tacos and chicken cannoli - everyone loved what they'd ordered. We ate outside and had wonderful and friendly servers! Most enjoyable! !

This was a highly recommended restaurant. The food was as we were told. Very good dishes, nice variety. The experience was somewhat spoiled by the incredibly incompetent service. It took over two hours despite the fact the restaurant was only half full. Even when we tried to pay, we could not get anyone to bring us the bill. If you... More

This is the place that I would recommend for a meal and experience if I had to name only one in La Barra, Uruguay. Great setting, very "unpromising" from the street but they will deliver a great food, service and atmosphere specially for the price they charge. Comparing to other flash places with a much higher price tag, El Chancho... More

The place is not fancy at all, more like a hippy restaurant, all is made in a clay oven. Food is ok, descent. Price is inexpensive, around usd 30/ person. I would change the name of the place, it is more likely to be called "El chancho y la tortuga", means : the pig and the turtle, the service is... More

It is the busiest time of the year. The restaurant was packed. The owners were working together with the staff, trying to front the amount of people trying to get a table or waiting for their meals. Staff was very polite. They understood English and Portuguese . Service was very slow but the food did not disappoint, making this restaurant... More

A wonderful relaxed place. It seems to be a house converted into a wonderful restaurant by the owners. The couple running around cooking and serving do a wonderful job! They work so hard as the restaurant seems to be very popular in the area and still take time to ensure you are as happy as can be. The food was... More
