We stayed for two nights in April while walking part of the Ridgeway and were very impressed! Our room was comfortable, quiet and tastefully modernised. The service is keen to meet your needs and the welcome extends to children, dogs and muddy boots, creating a friendly informal atmosphere. There's nothing casual about the kitchen's precise attention to detail - we... More

Excellent pub for food. I have been at least half a dozen times over the winter and feel very much at home.

Booked in with our pooch to stay the night, having eaten here before. Room was cosy but delightful - comfy bed, crisp linen, lovely fluffy towels and immaculately clean. Just watch your head on the door as this is an old building with sloping floors and low doors, but it just adds to the charm. Lovely welcome pack for the... More

Walked across from Wantage with friends ( about a mile via Willow Lane. Nicely done out pub with a great menu and a good selection of beers etc. Can thoroughly recommend the double baked cheese souffle with haddock.

Lydia and the team make you feel really welcome - even to the supply of dog biscuits for our four-legged friend! Between the four of us, we tasted quite a lot of the menu. My 'light' lunch comprised two starters and a dessert - chicken parfait with toasted parkin followed by the cheese souffle, with pannacotta and rhubarb sorbet to... More

Fantastic hidden gem of a pub hotel. Very friendly team with a warm welcome from everyone at the hotel. Room was very comfortable with lots of historic character and a premium feel. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. I would stay here again and highly recommend it.
