The food is sublime. If you seek traditional Cretan food with flavours bursting from organic gardens and local produce, complemented by Cretan wines then Artemis Restaurant is your 'go to place'. Simple presentation of great food in a family friendly restaurant offers a feasting experience. We chose to eat here for all our dinners and the chef, Roussos would come... More

I who have travelled a lot in Crete and I dare say that this is one of the best restaurants. Moreover you get a 10% reduction if you stay in their hotel. After hiking Samaria we arrived into the village and had lunch at Artemis. I was drawn by their special of tuna fish in wine sauce, tuna being the only fist I had not yet eaten during my Greek trip. We arrived a little late and were the only guests at the restaurant, but the lunch was wonderful and we got... More

We are staying in Agia Roumeli for two months and eat at Artemis Restuarant all the time. The food is fresh, good quality and very generous servings. Roussos is an amazing chef and the food is delicious. Their house wines are Cretan wines and complement every meal. We wouldn't eat any where else and can highly recommend eating here.

We ate two dinners and breakfast at Artemis restaurant and enjoyed the fresh and tasty fare. The final night we joined in the bread-baking and BBQ for the Samaria experience. What a blast we had!

After 5 hours walking down on Samaria Gorge we came to Agia Roumeli for eat something. There are many tavernas and restaurants. We choose Artemis after reading good reviews. We ordered moussaka and calamares (squid) with chips. For drink 1l local beer. Prices are not high (moussaka - 6 EUR, calamares 7 EUR, beer 5 EUR). Calamares was good, but... More

We stopped in here at the end of the Samaria Gorge hike for a well earned lunch. The taverna doesn't have a sea view, but unlike all the tavernas by the sea, is doing very good authentic Greek food in a much less touristy setting. The stuffed tomatoes in particular were a huge highlight. So delicious and so reasonably priced!... More

My wife and I visited this restaurant on the 20th of May after walking to the end of the Samaria Gorge. We arrived in Agia Roumeli at around 13:30 and were searching for a place to eat. We chose the Artemis as most restaurants were pretty much empty at this time (we were amongst the first to finish the gorge... More

Best Greek food ever! If I could, I would eat Roussos food every day. It is authentic and so yumm that you just can't stop eating it. You can feel the goodness in the food, because the ingredients are from the area and the preparation has been taught for generations. The service is good and friendly and the prices are... More

Description
In the restful shade of a rich greenery, our guests can enjoy traditional Cretan food and also specialities such as local goat and lamb meat from the mountains. We follow old recipes from this region and the specialities are usually prepared in clay pots over charcoal or open fire.Whenever the weather conditions allow it we also have fresh fish from the Libyan sea . The fish soup we serve is much appreciated and brings the smell of the sea right onto your table.ot only are we able to offer you many different kinds of wine, but our pure Cretan wine comes directly from the barrel. There are a lot of things that you may want to try and taste when you visit us, such as the thyme honey from our own bees, served with yoghurt or Sfakian pita.Naturally we prefer to use local products such as olive oil, vegetables, lamb and goat meat, cheese, feta, wine, fruit and honey. We also offer a variety of vegetarian dishes.
