Went for a late Sunday lunch with a group of friends. Warmly greeted and shown to our table. Drinks order taken promptly (try the Wolf ale!). The menu was relatively small and "British" e.g traditional roasts. We ordered the pork and slow cooked beef. Served with lots of seasonal veg and lots of good tasty gravy. The pork was cooked... Staying not far from here I called late to book a table. Wasn't full when we got there so may have got in without booking. Going tomorrow night and booking is necessary. This place is great. 3 separate rooms to sit and enjoy excellent real ales and wonderful food. Small selection on menu, but enough to give a good selection.... More

On arriving in the pub the staff could not be more helpful, offing us tasters of the lovely selection of real ale on offer, We pre booked a table for dinner and we were not disappointed, the food was exceptional. We can not wait for my next visit.

When we walked into the traditional interior of the pub, furnished with lovely old furniture, photos, paintings and quirky artefacts it looked too good to be true. And it is. The whole thing has been lovingly recreated by the landlord and his family and it feels very authentic, as if you've just walked into the pages of one of those 1950s... More

We had finished a walk on footpaths nearby, and were covered in mud. Just the place to go, because the floors were uncarpeted and we were able to clean ourselves up before eating. Excellent meal in a lovely pub.

Not very welcoming if your not a local, it felt as though it was the landlords front room not a pub, we had 1 drink and left we felt very awkward.

Been coming here for years but not been for 18 months or so. If anything it's got better! I had a marvellous glass of cider (they have some of the best guest ciders and perry around) to accompany my scotch egg - amazing. Then I polished off some superb venison with the best dauphinoise potatoes I've ever had! We were... More

This food was delicious and beautiful. The chef is so talented and charming and the staff were friendly and kind. The pub is very olde worlde ...if you remember the 30s and 40s the fires will thrill you. We really enjoyed our lunch here and will return many times. The belly pork was delicious and the creme brullee excellent. Great... More

This is a great pub; cosy real fires and local real ales. There was friendly welcome and good service. Really enjoyed my vegetarian Sunday lunch which was packed full of flavour. The deserts were all tempting but I had the bread and butter pudding which was delicious and simply melted in my mouth. We'll definitely return again soon.

Black Bull Inn is a charming, welcoming place. There are open fires in every room making it so cosy. The staff are really lovely & helpful. Nothing seems too much trouble. My partner & I had a fantastic evening meal there. Good choices, well prepared. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Overall this was a really good find. We will... More
