After reading reviews on here and staying in Buxton we decided to drive out to this rather out-of- the- way pub for an evening meal. Upon entering the front door behind other customers we stood in a pokey space next to the bar and watched 2 members of staff faff around on the till. This isn't a problem unless you're... More

What we were looking for firstly, is a decent camp site , and secondly, a decent Pub that you can have a good meal and drink in. We were not disappointed, The Campsite facilities were excellent with a mixture of hard and grass standings. 2 pitches share its own Water tap and EHU is available. The hard standing was flat,... Called here on spec for lunch on our way to Buxton. Great food and good service. Lasagne, proper chips, and a lovely salad (not just a lettuce leaf that some restaurants call a side salad).

We went for lunch to celebrate a birthday, with family members. We haven't been before but will definitely be going back. The food was excellent, good range of choice, small portions available if required. It was well presented and we all cleared our plates. The quality of the food was above average for pub grab. The dining room is airy... More

On a weekend break in Derbyshire we were a bit concerned that the pubs in the area would simply be providing a Sunday carvery and just at lunchtime. Not to worry. With a little Google search we came across this find. Great welcome when we arrived in the middle of the afternoon. Staff were efficient and attentive without being overbearing.... More

We decided to visit here last minute after a recommendation from a work colleague. We ate in the lovely cosy restaurant with a welcoming log burner. I had prawn cocktail and my partner had pate to start. Excellent value and we certainly were not disappointed when our mains arrived. I had steak pie and he had cheese and onion pie... More

There were 17 of us that booked a lunchtime meal at The Duke of York, and we couldn't fault it. Even though some of our party were delayed, the food was hot, brought in together and was very tasty. Portions were well big enough, even for the bigger eaters. Our hosts couldn't have tried harder, even with the more picky... More

Today we were privileged to be one of the first to try The Sunday Carvery and how lovely it was. Huge joints of lamb and beef with Yorkshire puddings and a good range of vegetables. The desserts were as fabulous as usual. Bridget Gary and the team work exceptionally hard to make you feel very welcome. We will be back.x

On the way back from hiking in the snow at Edale four of us dropped in here on spec late on a Sunday afternoon. There was a warm and very welcome log fire roaring in the open fireplace. The staff were really friendly and the service excellent. Gluten free options are rare we find but the Duke of York has... More

Great pub restaurant superbly done. Lovely surroundings and friendly staff. To top it all the food was outstanding. I had the Steak and Stilton Pie which was just perfect the balance, spot on.
