Many thanks to Michael and the team for a great night out. Love the new menu: salt and pepper squid delicious, same for the arancini with a great tomato sauce. Rib-eye cooked to perfection as ever. How lucky are we to have this great pub as a local?

A superb friendly community pub. A local lass' birthday was just starting 🎂🎁Traditional small cosy rooms with open fires and that welcome feeling. Even the wood smoke aroma is great 🔥Enjoy all the local photos in the bar room 👍

I located the pub, over the fell from where I was staying in the beautiful Duddon Valley. A pleasant walk in fabulous countryside for a well worthwhile pint of 'Nightingale'. Thank you! Have eaten here previously and always enjoyed - need to book, however!

This isn't the easiest place to get to, and it's very much the only stop off point in the area, but it's worth it for a couple of reasons: the local walking is wonderful, as is the food. Last fitted out in 1850 (so it seems), it's a pretty and authentic village pub, with a small seating area out front,... More

Hidden in the bottom of a deep valley, the Blacksmiths Arms is a delight. Quaint and very old with beamed ceilings and open log fires, this is great place to eat well and drink local beers. However, it is tiny and very popular for dinner so essential to book. We had a very pleasant lunch, sitting outside on the terrace... More

This pub is a little in the sticks but well worth the journey. It is a very friendly pub in a small hamlet. It serves great local beers and the slow roasted lamb "Henry" is really fab. Best to book.

We were staying at a local hired cottage in this splendid southern Lakeland location, so the Blacksmiths was our closest pub for a week. It took us though three attempts to eat there, but that was our fault for either not booking, or not appreciating that no food is served on a Monday. However, we finally made it on a... More

This is the best pub in the galaxy as far as I'm concerned. I've been a good few times and it's always brilliant. An amazing ancient inn with atmospheric beamed rooms with stone floors and farmhouse tables. Great ales, and the food is stunning. This time I started with the pigeon with black pudding, followed by the chargrilled guineafowl, then... More

We were recommended this pub via our hosts from Bigert Mire, the walk itself left much to be desired because the weather had turned on us 30 minutes in, however we constantly looked forward to the welcoming sign of the Blacksmiths Arms, after 2.5 hours of walking in the rain I don't think I have seen anything more beautiful than...
