If you like sitting in a working harbour watching the fishermen unloading their catch, selling straight off the boat, while eating your fish and chips, this is the place for you. Nothing fancy, just good food at a very low price. Nobody can match Kalky's. Parking is easy, the views from the harbour are fantastic, the people are great.

The food we ordered was fresh, tasty and served very quickly. It seems to be the place where the locals come for a tasty lunch. It is right on the harbour, alive and bustling with activity.

Visited Kalky's on a Saturday for lunch. The place was packed to capacity but we managed to get a table outside overlooking Kalk Bay harbour. Excellent and well priced Hake and Chips. Highly recommended if you are in the Kalk Bay area.

We loved this unique restaurant, simple but very good food, fish couldn´t be fresher. Always crowded, melting pot of people. Self service, but very well organized. Good prizes, also for drinks. The near situated harbour is very pittoresque, ideal for a walk after lunch. You can observe sea lions.

We visited Kalky's during the long weekend in April. The area was very busy but we managed to get a table inside the restaurant. I absolutely love the place and visit it whenever we are in the area. I had the crayfish which was on special and my husband had the hake. I love the atmosphere and the different experience.... More

Delicious hake and chips cooked fresh to order. Very reasonably priced and fresh, would recommend to anyone looking for authentic fish and chips, locals seemed to enjoy it. Always a good sign.

We had a family reunion and decided to enjoy the walk from Muizenberg to Kalk Bay to reminisce our early years of picnicing along this coast which we accessed by the public train transport. Picnic was always great under the famous tunnels in Kalk Bay, the famous St James beach where we paddled in the swimmimg pool and the famous... More

Having run the Two Oceans Half Marathon the day before I needed to stoke up a bit. I had the most delightful if somewhat greasy hake and chips. The staff were garrulous and enjoyable, the clientele on the next table totally pissed on cheap wine. A great experience. Highly recommended.

Arriving in Cape Town we could not wait to get back to Kalky's. If you have not eaten there you have not experienced the culture and food of the area. This is a must visit and having some of the fish dishes while looking out over the harbour is a real experience

I gave this eatery a one star only because I couldn't rate it any lower. Worst snoek I've eaten in my 7 years in Cape Town. The snoek was as dry as cardboard and no amount of vinegar or sauce could redeem it. There was a green fly in the tomato sauce (ketchup), but no apologies from the staff, we... More
