We took a day trip to NS from PEI and needed a place for lunch. Everything was delightful: tea, quiche, dessert...so good. We also enjoyed the shop!

Nice food, although we felt a bit rushed as it was towards the end of service and the servers wanted to get away. Would go again, but earlier in the day.

Went there to use a gift card I had been given. Small place in the back of the NS Emporium. We had the curry soup, which was amazing. My husband had the lasagna with a salad. The lasagna was a large portion and light and...More

I had the frittata for lunch on Saturday. It was a fair portion and had good flavour. It was, however, heated in a microwave and was a bit damp. Came with 2 slices of toast. I was left a bit hungry so would order a...More

This Tea Room is a small place with 3 rooms. One room is enclosed which gives more privacy and the other two rooms are separated and cozy. I have enjoyed my food there, only once I had to return my quiche that wasn't quite cooked...More

This restaurant has a great lunch menu. Salads are made with fresh crisp greens & peppers. Soup and sandwiches are excellent as well as everything else. Great desserts.

We were at the tea room recently, after a long absence, and won't be back for a long time again. None of the meals we have ever had have looked anything like the photo posted. Pretty basic; you order a sandwich and that's what you...More

My husband and I stopped in for lunch - he got a salmon sandwich, I got a quiche with salad. Sure, it was fine, but we were expecting a little more food for what we paid and the service was slow. It got good reviews...More

Description
The Nova Scotian Emporium & Fireside Tearoom is located in the heart of Truro's downtown shopping district. Its embossed tin ceilings, wainscoting and hardwood floors are original to the c.1890 building. While enjoying lunch or dessert, take in the excellent array of giftware, kitchen gadgets, bedding, baby products, and fine Nova Scotia products in the gift shop on the adjacent two floors. We have an onsite bakery and do special orders/catering for any occasion. The Tearoom features soups made daily, fresh salads, seafood chowder, frittatas, specials and 'almost sinful' desserts baked daily in our own oven. We take great pride in offering you the freshest ingredients in our menu selections. For the tea enthusiast, we offer 15+ blends of teas, including several herbals.
