The food was sublime and such good value for money. Massively enjoyed the "dinner box". The staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was lovely.

Thank you for a wonderful and diverse vegetarian experience. The vegetarian dinner was very well presented, extremely fresh, delightful range of flavors and fabulous!! All diners at our table raved about the food. Washed down with Asahi.

This is a little local Japanese i takapuna, often full but empties out and worth waiting for. Wooden tables and chairs, authentic staff. BYO and stunning dishes. cheap and cheerful.......

We recently had dinner again here and all settled for the Dinner Box Kyo Ya special. Huge servings and lots of yummy fish and tempura plus the beef, chicken or fish you chose. Miso soup to start, rice and lovely delicacies, followed by green tea ice cream all included. As always a beautiful meal with great service.

Family dinner with Mum, Dad and the grand children. Hand't been here for a number of years but my parents love the place. Rightfully so, food was authentic and delicious. Kyo-Ya delight for me, NZD$36.00 and what a meal. Fresh raw fish, great sushi, beef tataki. Everyone enjoyed their meal and because of the main dishes no entries really required.... More

Kyo-Ya certainly met my expectations following a recommendation from a work colleague. We where met at the door my a very polite and friendly waitress who guided us to our seats and while we reviewed the menu she offered us a 'hot' towel to freshen up and meso soup free of charge. The staff are very observant as they came... More

One of my favourite spots in Takapuna for a casual dinner. Friendly staff, always welcoming. Would recommend booking if possible as it can get fairly busy. Also their takeaway options are great, take home or walk down to the beach with it! The tasting entree platter is a good starter to share. Try and learn a few Japanese words while... More

Returned to this former favourite restaurant after having been away for a couple of years. Happy to say that most of the kitchen staff are still the same and they continue to send out beautiful looking dishes made with top quality ingredients. Always a busy restaurant and a good idea to book in advance. There are a few bar seats... More
