Reviewed yesterday NEW

RC salad looked delightful, but I had the mates plate. Unfortunately they were out of scallops so a couple extra prawns were substituted. Had a large piece of cod and a pair of oysters along with 2 sides for $20. Good deal in my books. Sat outside on the back deck and had glimpses of mountains and sea or front... More

We were three generations of family going out for a meal and this was a perfect location. My son's friend recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Everyone was very happy with the portion sizes and flavor of their food. My highlight was the clam chowder - it was to die for.

Frequented again with family and was disappointed with the food ... especially reduced serving size along with higher pricing. Have been going here for years and noticed change in the last year or thereabouts. Always took out of town guests here ... will no longer do and will look out for an improved location for fish and chips. Sad. Service... More

We visited the rock cod for lunch on a busy Saturday. The service was a bit slow, but it was extremely busy in the restaurant at the time. Once our meals came the food was great. Halibut fish and chips were great. The batter wasn't super greasy. Portion sizes were filling. The beef burger was excellent. We liked how you... More

Who knew grilled fish was coated in flour? I am wheat intolerant and nowhere on the menu does it say the grilled fish is coated with flour nor do they advertise a gluten free menu. When I spoke to the manager, after eating the so called grilled fish and paying for it, she told me I was "the only person in... More

The Rock Cod is consistently excellent for seafood. Their seafood chowder is fabulous and their rock cod plates are very good too. The Rock Cod salad is way more than just a few lettuce leaves...with the addition of shaved beets, tomatoes, cheese which adds a lot to the traditional green salad.

When we arrived we were told we only had 5 minutes to place an order for food. That wasn't a problem as we had come for fish and chips. The cod was lightly batter, cooked all the way through and was delicious. The food arrived quickly. The restaurant is in Cowichan Bay with some view of the water. Not real... More

We always remember past visits as to how good it all was. Not this time. We split an order of tiger prawns and almost gagged on the lemon pepper dip. Expecting fresh lemon juice and pepper the synthetic glop ruined the taste of the prawns. It tasted like a laundry detergent. Do not, I repeat do not order this dip.... More

This was my third visit to Rock Cod Cafe and it was just as good as the first couple of times. Friendly staff and great service, Fish tacos with clam chowder sides and fries, with a couple pints of Vancouver Islander. I've had the same thing all three times, why change when you know it's good? All the other food... More
