Been here many times. Never been impressed with food but always enjoyed drinks and live music. Having a drink with a friend and got asked to move so that someone could have food - they said that they'd booked someone for food but didn't have...More

The Old Bookshop is a nice, softly lit, bar/bistro. A good range of beers and lagers. A small, but imaginative, menu. I had a ‘small plate’ of meat balls in tomato sauce. It was full of flavour. My friends both had the haddock, which they...More

Luckily without booking we were able to get a table for Sunday lunch (it was fully booked apart from our table). Staff were friendly & pub had a lovely atmosphere. Ordered chicken and stuffing Sunday dinner, husband ordered beef. After about 20 minutes our lunch...More

I was dubious about this breakfast gravy but had to go in today to try it, and I wasn't disappointed. When the plate come out the bacon was slightly crisp, good quality sausage and the bumble and squeak was really good. Why wouldn't you want...More

After hearing great things about Sunday lunches, we were massively disappointed. Service was slow, from taking orders through to serving all the meat and then waiting ages for the veg to come out. Food - ran out of beef and lamb, so only chicken or...More

Great place to go for a catch up drink and a snack. Loved all the local ales and the jerk chicken and pulled pork platter they served! It was Jamaican everyone crazy!

Super nice atmosphere as always, nice staff and drinks also as always. However the current pop-up which they have had for a long time now was very dissapointing. They might have had a bad evening to be fair but food was pretty terrible. It's not...More

Really enjoyed the food here, and the good range of drinks on offer. The pub itself is really lovely, cosey, and perfect for small groups, with a fun atmosphere. I'd definitely go back.

My family and I visited on recommendation and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. It's not often that we find a place where all the family members were able to enjoy themselves equally. The adults were happy with the friendly...More

Description
The Old Bookshop is a small, eclectic cafe/bar that serves good food at a fair price. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The walls are covered in old photographs, typewriters and curiosities. We have guest chefs and pop-up kitchens each month, so menu changes regularly. Don't expect a stuffy restaurant, we are just a quirky little bar that does great food! We also serve delicious cocktails. Our smoking garden has a wood burner to keep you warm on chilly evenings.
