£17.50 for a main of 2 (tiny) roasted new potatoes halved, dessertspoon of mushrooms and 2 small plaice fillets 4" long, 2" wide 1cm deep, is overpriced. For a light lunch that's okay but hardly a decent main course plus every item had too much butter - if drained would've been more palatable. The service is excellent and ambience is... More

My partner had been before & recommended we go here. Was simply delightful, from beginning to end. Food is amazing & some might feel expensive but a worthwhile treat. Service was genuine & very courteous. Still thinking of the sausages & mash! Hmmmmmmm

It has a reputation for being rather overpriced for the quality and volume of food provided. Nice location. Some of the dishes look as if they're quick boil in a bag so not justifying the prices charged. Food can be tasty but you come away feeling you've paid a bit too much.

Love The Old Queen's Head for a drink and cosy atmosphere....the food however lets it down. Overpriced, bland with a 'mass produced' feeling. The kids had spag bol which was really dry, hubby had the chirizo pasta which for nearly £15 should have been much better, I had sausage and mash which was okay but nothing green on the plate... We were on holiday visiting the family and came here for Sunday lunch. The food is absolutely amazing we couldn't fault a thing. The pub is lovely and cosy and has a really nice atmosphere. The service was excellent and the staff were so friendly. Next time we are in Penn we will be back! If you like good food... More

We have been visiting every few months but this was the poorest meal for some time and relatively expensive. Very small starter, uninspired presentation and flavours of the main course and limited cheese board.

stopped off for a quick lunch - not bad prices for small plates and the sweet potato fries and chilli dip was very nice, think the main meals are over priced for what they are and sometimes service can be hit and miss but overall a nice place to eat.

We met friends there for an evening meal. We ate outside on their patio. We like the pub, the staff are friendly and helpful. Food was good, hot and a reasonable choice. Beer is ok, wine is a little expensive. I have been there many times and would recommend to anyone that wants to eat. Pub is dog and child... More

Popped up here to celebrate my birthday but have to say I wish I hadn't, ordered as soon as we arrived, a pulled lamb shoulder salad, a chicken with minted new potatoes and kids bangers and mash. 1 1/2 hrs later 3 luke warm dishes arrived, so hungry by then and at last in possession of something to eat we... Description
Our Little Gem is a delightful country pub & restaurant that's full of charm, character and plenty of friendly faces. All are welcome in our bar area - even the beloved pooch! (Our doggy biscuit jar may be of interest to said pooch...) We have a stylish but cosy, two level dining room, a relaxed and informal bar area with a roaring log fire for the chilly months - and our lovely garden and terrace overlooking the village church is the perfect spot for those warmer days when the sun comes out to play. Everything on our menus is freshly made in our kitchen, including our ice creams and tasty chutneys. Our dishes change in line with the seasons and are made using the best local produce that we can get our hands on. In fact - If you think your veggies are top of the crops, then bring them along...we accept them as currency! (We're totally serious - Please ask) We're what you might call a 'proper pub', serving a selection of great real ales and lagers, alongside premium spirits and a good range of soft drinks and organic juices. Our wine list is carefully sourced (that bit was fun) and features boutique wineries - producing an exciting and individual list with many wines served by the glass. Planning a party? If you need that perfect spot to get some business done away from the office, or if you have something special to celebrate, please give us a call! We'll take all the hard work off your hands. Nearby, there are great walks in the beech woodlands of Common and Penn Woods, perfect for a visit to walk off one of our indulgent puds, or that Sunday roast. Whatever the occasion, if you're looking for a lovely spot to eat great food and catch up with friends and family, we think The OQH is just the place... We look forward to welcoming you soon! Tina (General Manager)
