excellent salmon- cheerful and informal atmosphere lovely staff. Interesting building although we were seated in the basement it was not at all claustrophobic just warm and cosy the ceilings were curved like a tunnel. and the lighting was perfect.

Good menu selection along with a pretty good set menu which was really good value. We had coffee on arrival, two had two courses, one had three - with soft drinks the bill was a very reasonable £66. The food was very enjoyable and staff...More

At first I wasn't sure about the subterranean dining room (there are only a few tables at ground floor level and the others are all downstairs), but it didn't detract from the meal. We chose the sharing platter to start and the haggis fritters were...More

I used to love this place but it’s gone down hill. The food has gone from amazing to average but at the same price. Watch out for the wine scam. Ordered a bottle of wine 2014 French and the same bottle but 2016 was delivered...More

We chose the Roast Venison Shoulder for 2 to share. It was amazing, soft and juicy and really full of flavour. The haggis mash served with it was divine! The service was polite, friendly and efficient. We will definitely be returning on our next visit...More

Fabulous dinner served with a delicious “flying solo” red wine. The service was perfect; friendly, efficient, unobtrusive, and seated at a lovely table in the corner overlooking the beautiful iconic road of colleges and students in billowing black gowns.

My wife and I had dinner on a Thursday evening. We had booked a couple of hours in advance and had a pleasant table on the ground floor by the window. We had haggis fritters and duck liver pate followed by sea bass and pork...More

Located in the heart of Cambridge, opposite Kings College Chapel, The Cambridge Chop House is a traditional British bar and restaurant that has been popular with locals and visitors from further afield since it opened in 2007. Split over two levels, the ground floor boasts views of Kings College Chapel while the basement is an intimate, atmospheric cellar split into four rooms. The menu offers British classics made from locally sourced ingredients and the two course set lunch and pre-theatre menu is excellent value for money. Popular dishes include Mutton Barnsley chops; whole sea bass with wholegrain mustard sauce; and daily changing sausages made on site. The hearty portions are best served with local ales straight from the cask or wine from an extensive list.
