Great food and service. Cosy and warm restaurant with good quality and seasonal food! They also have a great selection of wines including an amazing dessert wine which accompanied my pudding really well! Thanks to the team for looking after us, will be back!

Good atmosphere. Wine list thought out carefully. Food was tasty, particularly mains... although the sharing platter starter salad has a touch too much mustard dressing and a little too much battered/fried on one plate.. Difficult to get a booking for a friday evening, but a...More

Pleasant staff, helpful without being intrusive during the meal. Food was good and well presented however, one of us decided they did not want a vegetable that was served with the meal, this seemed to throw them a little with a result the food was...More

The steak was not bad, however it had almost no salt and it was slightly overcooked. The 1st course (the soup of the day) was delicious. Portions were good. Staff was attentive and polite. Somewhat overpriced for what it offers.

Hi, I'm afraid there is no parking on site, however you can park in the pay and display opposite the restaurant. The road is called Pound Hill and is @ £1 per hour. Parking during the week is not a problem but at the weekend... More

Description
Just off the beaten track, The St. John's Chop House is a sister restaurant to The Cambridge Chop House. The restaurant is situated in a 200 year old former Almshouse. Split over 2 levels with 5 separate dining rooms it offers a wide range of dining options from an intimate meal in our Reading Room to the party sized rooms on the ground floor. Traditional British food is once again the mainstay, sourced as locally as possible, complimented by a local cask ale and an interesting wine list. Reservations are taken and recommended, especially at the weekend.
