I often go to the Hotpot because their food is excellent and very good value, the staff are wonderful and so friendly. Whenever we have guests I always make sure we have at least one meal there during their stay and they also say, without exception, the food is excellent. I highly recommend the Hotpot.

We have been coming here for about 3 years now. My girlfriend suffers from coeliac disease, and can't eat gluten. The owner has gone out of her way to accommodate her dietary needs and made changes so that my girlfriend can eat nearly everything on the menu. The food every time is excellent. Prices are reasonable and we always get... More

I'm still a regular visitor to the Hotpot. Reading some of the reviews people may ask why, but the answer is simple. I don't come to this fab Chinese restaurant for the decor - I come for delicious, fresh food at value prices you just don't find anywhere else in Cambridge. For me, the food is as good as ever.... Had been here once before with my husband. "Interesting" restaurant and takeaway. Our meal filled a hole but was slow in arriving although the restaurant and takeaway were really quiet.

I was introduced to The Hotpot when I first came to live in Cambridge over 20 years ago, and back then it was considered one of the better Chinese restaurants. Whilst the decor was not fancy, and it didn't look special from the outside, the food was very good and it was always quite busy. I used to go a... More

Except I can't cook Chinese food like you get here. I come to see my friends in Cambridge and they introduced me to Hotpot. I have to go here every time I come now. The food is cooked to perfection, taste explosion of spices, and Kaleng's welcome and humour makes this a wonderful night out. Don't go expecting luxury decor... More

OK the Hotpot may not be the most attractive place to dine - lighting too bright - looks a little canteenish and not much atmosphere - but the food is superb! You can order a takeaway and have restaurant quality at home. Hotpot you need to get with the plan - a refurb and menu online for starters.

This is a textbook case of how NOT to run a restaurant in the West. They might get away with it in East Asia, if high food quality and value were there, because their value systems are different ('Live in a hovel; drive a BMW'). The Hotpot's décor and furniture are tatty, dirty, and stained, with rickety, rock hard seats... More

I lived in Cambridge for years without going to this place and I seriously feel I missed out! After trying it once, it became my go to for Chinese and for take-away period! It is easy to miss, but once you go once, you'll realize you've been missing a hidden treasure. The woman who runs it is charming, warm, considerate... More
