Booked a table for 3 adults and 2 children on a Saturday lunchtime, the place was busy but we were quickly shown to our table. We ordered a mixture of hot food and sandwiches ,without exception it was very good with attentive and efficient service. No hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

Try the fruitscones, I still remember the taste of the cream. My family was also happy with the jacket potatoes. It was crowded but we were lucky to find a table. When we left, we could make an other party happy. I understand they have a queue very often. I don't do queues. I rather come back some other time.

We went here just before Christmas and had a very nice Christmas meal, the service was excellent and the food was very good too and you can pop in for a coffee and a cake with friends and have a chat in the comfortable surroundings, winter and sit outside in the summer and take in the view

There is a real serenity to this place, set almost in the cathedral grounds. Which is lucky because the food, while fine, is ambitiously priced. Sandwiches are around £6-£7.50, apple pie £5.75, a small portion of chips (no sharing!) £3.25 and a pot of tea for two £4.90. (Why does nowhere give you hot water to top up the teapot... More

Lovely building in the grounds of the cathedral. It was busy but we were given a table after 5 mins wait and there were lots of staff milling around. It took ages for anyone to take our order but when they did we ordered 'orange juice with bits, hot chocolate and french fries' to warm us up. The juice was... More

Lovely spot in the gardens of the cathedral to sit out in summer. Feels quintessentially English and is secluded and sheltered. Menu of sandwiches and coffees makes it perfect for lunch or afternoon tea. Jacket potatoes were scrumptious and cakes were home made generous slices. Service with a smile and despite being busy was efficient. In the winter you can... More

Stumbled into the Almonry looking for somewhere to have tea that was not a chain store. The setting is rather delightful and there was an excellent range of baked treats. We were very happy to stop a while, escaping a cold winter day.

Struggled to find a place for lunch for 3 adults and 3 small children. So pleased we saw this refectory where we found a table immediately. Good menu choice at reasonable prices with quick and friendly service. Both hot and cold food on the menu. Good facilities and scrupulously clean. We will certainly return and also will be trying the... More

Just happened upon the place on a stopover to see the Cathedral - never been here before. I had a jacket potato and tea. Service was prompt and courteous. The food was good and served quickly. And it's all at a fair & reasonable price. So I would come again. The room is nice too by the way!
