What a fantastic little place! We noticed this restaurant as it advertised gluten free options outside the front door so went in and booked a table for lunch which was only an hour and a half afterwards. When we returned, we had a lovely table by the window reserved for us. The menu was extensive and many of the options... More

Had a very pleasant lunch at Tea on the Green. The food was great (portions a little on the large side for a "light lunch", but that's not really a complaint!) and the staff were really kind and friendly - we also had a small baby with us, who was looked after beautifully. Also worth mentioning that there are changing/feeding... More

We enjoyed Sunday lunch overlooking Exeter's stunning cathedral in glorious sunshine. Staff and food were brilliant. Homemade lemonade, delicious. Recommended.

Friendly staff, good food & clean toilets...three good things! It was a bit expensive but guess that's because of the location.

Quaint and cozy, delicious food, generous portions and very reasonable. The staff charming, and lingered with dessert and Tea overlooking the Cathedral. Second day friends visiting from Torquay joined me for the best Welsh Rarebit sandwiches. The Fish and Chipss looked amazing also. Next time!. I had visited this Tea Room in 1985 and enjoyed it immensely in 2017.

Service is really poor. Asked what the soup was and the waitress didn't know, said "mmm not sure, maybe and something, not sure". The chicken run panini, chicken Brie and chutney was pretty dry. Two of us had it and both said wasn't much chutney. The waiter and waitresses seemed more interested in each other than the diners and appeared... More

We had as very disappointing late breakfast here this week. My wife and I decided to try the Full and Half Hash dishes as we had not had these on previous visits. The Full Hash in particular was a weighty affair comprising of a overloaded plate of lukewarm fried spuds and mushrooms with an overkill of nearly raw fried onion,... More

Had a cream tea and coffee with carrot cake. Warm scones and good slice of cake. The meals looked good as they came out too. Not cheap, but service and setting are lovely and puts places like Starbucks to shame.

I visited Tea on the Green several weeks ago, midweek as they seemed to be regularly full up on Sundays when I checked there. Without prejudice to the difficulties some customers may have experienced, reported here on TripAdvisor, I have to say that I got a really good feeling about the place, underlining what so many of the other positive... Description
We are a daytime cafe with lovely views of Exeter Cathedral and the green. We have outdoor seating and seating on two floors inside. Open for breakfast, lunch, Sunday Roasts, and afternoon teas, we source from local, small suppliers as it's good for the environment and the food tastes better. Our coffee is excellent, our choice of teas extensive (no teabags here), and wines, beers, ciders, and lagers produced by small, local family businesses. Open 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sundays. This is an independent, owner operated cafe. We give 1% of our profits to Medecins sans Frontieres. Cream Teas are served from 230pm (We recognise that not serving cream teas at lunchtime is not a popular policy and admit we do this partly for economic reasons. Better to be up front and honest about it!). We are generally a daytime only restaurant, but we open in the evenings during graduation week, on Fridays in the summer, and for private functions (please phone us if you are interested)
