Had lunch here today with family and couldn't fault it. Young lad working behind the bar is spot on, I made a passing comment when settling the bill about it being my mother's birthday yesterday, as she left he wished her happy birthday for the previous day. This made her day! Plus having a cosy table by the fire. Thank... More

Stopped here for refreshment whilst on a seven mile circular walk from Lynmouth. Old Inn with small log burner and low ceilings. Just stopped for a drink and light snack but lunches looked good

Great traditional pub, perfect for walkers. A welcoming friendly place to warm up in front of roaring fire after a stroll up from Lynmouth. Stunning views across the Exmoor national park.

A lovely lunchtime visit to this amazingly atmospheric pub. The staff were welcoming and friendly. It was early in the lunchtime service and our meals were served promptly. We both chose the wild mushroom linguini which we thoroughly enjoyed. We have been going to this pub for 28 years when it was previously known as the Exmoor Sandpiper after being... More

Very friendly staff. Cleaned the table quickly, specially so we could use the one by the wood burner. The roast was good- fab Yorkshire pud (& I can say because I'm from Yorkshire!!) & the standard veg, meat & gravy. Soup & a roll for me which was very good, tasted homemade! Perfect spot for walkers & dogs allowed in... More

We wanted a dog friendly pub. And we found one this one. You take you dog to the restaurant with you for breakfast and evening meal. Great food. Friendly staff

My wife and I attended a family wedding at this pub, who had set aside a small private function room for the occasion. The environment was warm and cosy and the staff were excellent, very polite and attentive. All guests were served with a full roast dinner and it was first class. Our observations of other meals served to other... More

Always busy and understandably so better to book ahead for a nice table in the restaurant. Lots of atmosphere, a diverse and interesting menu, generous well presented portions, and excellent service. Went several times and were never disappointed.

Climb the steep Contisbury Hill via the coast path and then head for this wonderful ancient pub at the top tucked away from the wind. Great food, great ales, at the top of a great stimulating steep walk. Somewhere comfortable and friendly to stop on your walking. You could drive up and park opposite but the pleasure of finding a...
