This the first time I have been here for two years and Oh god has it gone downhill. The whole downstairs has been refurbished, which was needed, but they have taken it too far and the pub has completely lost any of its old world charm, in fact sat inside here I could be anywhere, at some chain pub like... OK I didn't have a meal, just some reasonably priced ginger beer and chips. Fully recommended. Go on, try it :)

Several friends had told me about the makeover at the Lopes so we went to see for ourselves. We visited on a Friday lunchtime and had booked to ensure we got a table. We had a really comfortable booth by the window. As soon as you enter the bar area it feels so much more welcoming than the old Lopes.... More

Had a reasonably priced meal here. Staff very obliging, didn't like the dressing poured on the salad, think that should be offered separately, but that's just me. But generally very nice.

Couldn't believe how the pub has been transformed ,all very swish, and smart ,The food was good as it always was, but did have to wait rather a long time we thought for the food to arrive, Do think the kitchen could improve the service as it wasn't that busy, never the less we all enjoyed our meal and will... I haven't been to the Lopes Arms for a while but went yesterday with a friend after she suggested we go following it's refurbishment. Well, what a good job they've done. It really is lovely. There's more seating and the refurbishment is very good there's but what really wowed us was our meals. They were was absolutely delicious, well presented... More

Went to the lopes on a recommend. After ordering and paying for our food we were told after 5/10mins that there was no chilli for jacket potato. So alternatively we ordered the lasagne as it stated homemade and was asked for the £3.50 price difference for it. I did make a comment on how I thought perhaps it would be... More

Living locally and having known this pub for years we stopped by for a beer on a quiet Tuesday evening in January. A pint of ale was £3.85!! The refurbishment must have cost a fortune! Also be wary on busy days as there is only one till and one card machine so when busy service suffers....

My son and I visited the Lopes last evening and was amazed at fantastic refurbishment. Comfortable, stylish and very relaxed. The food as always was good and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The staff are friendly and efficient and Bobby is a great manager.

Description
Very traditional village pub on the northern edge of the city of Plymouth convenient to a large local community but much used by travellers on their way back from the rural hinterland and especially Dartmoor. Fair good value selection of mid to low priced traditional pub food in a classic setting. Well worth a Tripadvisor entry.
