A few friends and I went for a couple drinks at the Waterside one incopantent bar tender made the most horrific coffee I have ever seen and the milk was burnt, another one of our drinks got messed up as well.. We sat down (bearing in mind there was only one other table) and a member of staff came outside,... More

There were 8 of us. We entered the bistro, and went to the bar to tell them of our booking. I was told to "wait a minute". To which I thought, "fine, the restaurant is relatively busy, benefit of the doubt" etc. A minute later, a man confirmed the booking and told me our table was "over there" as he... More

Quick stop off on the way back to Exeter for a 'light lunch' (!) We both chose the small portion of Brixham mussels (moules marinieres). But shared a portion of frites instead of the bread which was served with the meal. The portion was large, and the frites were excellent. The service was excellent, the ambience 'okay' (this was early... More

Cannot fault location, ambience or service. To be fair everybody I was with enjoyed their meal and I would certainly go there again. But my falafel burger and chips was not a patch on the one I had on the Calmac ferry this summer travelling to the Hebrides!

Recommended by our B and B, the atmosphere and vibe was great. Very friendly welcome and service, along with a very tasty meal. Booking is advised, especially over the weekend.

Having visited this restaurant in August we returned again in October as had such a nice ambiance. Both times we had three courses all delicious. The staff are friendly and gave helpful advice on the area. We signed up to their loyalty card in August as we knew we would become regular customers when we move to Devon in December.... More

Had a good meal here but found it very busy and noisy. Perhaps only to be expected as it is popular.

The touristy look would normally put me off choosing a restaurant like this. However, I found that very few places in Totnes served evening meals and even fewer offered vegetarian choices. In spite of my initial impression I was pleasantly surprised to find that the food was good. I also found the staff helpful and the wine excellent.

Waterside Bistro at the riverside heart of Totnes, is relaxed and comfortable with a wonderful terrace next to the River Dart with covered seating for perfect alfresco dining whatever the weather. It is open from 9am until 11pm every day it serves breakfasts, coffee, lunches & dinners. It has built a reputation for fine local, fresh, seasonal food with an emphasis on great fish and shellfish. As a proud member of Food and Drink Devon, it has a super wine list and great selection of local beers and ciders. From Spring to Autumn there is fabulous Salcombe Dairy ice cream served on the terrace with lots of homemade toppings. It is owned and run by chef/proprietor Matt Buzzo and his wife Delphine.Waterside Bistro has a sister venue called New Walk Restaurant which is located not far away on The Plains in Totnes.
