La Caverna is a great alternative to chain restaurants. It might not be quite as slick but it is genuine, the food is tasty and the atmosphere is cosy and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed the aubergine starter.

Genuine home cooked Italian dishes served in an atmospheric cellar. La Caverna is a bit like a good pair of shoes, a bit worn around the edges but very comfy and reliable (that's a compliment by the way); and the food here is sublime. Friendly low key service, its a great place for a romantic meal or a night with... More

As the title says, this is one of the best restaurants you will find. The food is second to none and with service to match. We have always felt very welcome and never rushed. We have always felt appreciated as customers and will be hopefully returning for years to come!

What a great find. Superb Italian cooking coupled with good service in a cavern setting. All the menu items were great, but the selection from the blackboard is highly recommended.

been three times and all have been excellent meals. husband loves the steak rossini. it is located in the basement, so no view in summer or lunchtimes, but it has a good ambience.

We decided to stop off on our way back home from the coast. You enter the restaurant and we wondered what we were in for but then we were taken downstairs and we were amazed. The restaurant is downstairs in the 'cellar' (I guess the name should have given that away) and is fabulous. Service was excellent and the food... More

This is about the fourth time we have come back to this lovely italian restaurant, the only reason - the food is absolutely delicious!! On my previous review I wrote how slow and bad the service was. This time around it was quick, efficient and very friendly. Even got my special request (Zabaglione) for dessert but I made sure I... More

A little eccentric, great atmosphere, typically Italian and good fun. Our steaks were served as ordered and chef even took the trouble to cook mine with a sauce not shown on the menu. The team of young waitresses were attentive, interested and contributed to the atmosphere. The menu offered plenty of choice for all budgets and tastes so long as... More

It was like eating in a bunker, damp musty smell and very low ceilings , we moved away from the arch, claustrophobic alarm. The food quality was good, a little over priced for what you got. We would not return
