Found this delightful Inne whilst staying in Alfriston. We had chance to have a very pleasant drink and evening snack. There is a nice and varied menu but I can certainly recommend the salmon. A lovely historical pub with so many interesting features. Very friendly atmosphere and welcome and a wonderful open fire. What is not to like?

Was here for a walking tour, coincident to the Halloween party... and the pub is clearly well known by the locals. All friendly, average food (some effort being made, but...) and good beer. Other places may have a better kitchen, but the service was good, and as a hotel, was perfectly comfortable, given its age and "charms"

Had a very pleasant lunch there recently. The host/owner/manager was very nice, helpful without being intrusive. My only other comment, and it is not meant to be negative, is that from outside it is not clear if the establishment is open or not. Some lights, signs in the window??

As I travel on my own, but with my dog I'm always thankful for dog friendly places to stay. Ye Olde Smugglers Inne didn't disappoint. Having stayed there before after getting off the ferry in Newhaven, I knew where to go and park, so that was easy. But having booked through an agent the message about my dog accompanying me... This is a typical English Pub with a friendly ambience and good selection of beers. The menu was extensive complemented by a long list of "Specials". The barman was friendly and let me sample a few beers before I made my choice. Service after our first round of drinks was a bit slow but this was due to the pub... More

Interesting menu and a bit cheaper than the other 2 main pubs in the village. Very friendly bar staff. Lovely, local, well kept ales. The only downside was that it was a bit chilly next to the window.

Dropped by for two meals with my wife and 91-yo mother. Meals fine, location (in the glassroom out the back) fine, experience fine. Recommended.

This place look liked it had been decorated by someone employed at Woolworths. Although empty, service was slow and no atmosphere whatsoever

I visited Ye Olde Smugglers Inne a year ago; the least said about that experience the better. I returned recently and the place is almost unrecognisable - friendly professional bar staff, lots of cosy corners to tuck yourself into with a well poured pint and proper pub food. I was there for one of their music nights and once it... More
