This is ok the food some of the food was good and the service was good but I have marked it down as I thought for the price, the portions and products were a little overpriced, £6 for two sardines!

We have been to Plateau many times, but this is our first visit since joining TripAdvisor! In our opinion Plateau is without question the best restaurant in Brighton! The food is superb and service is always excellent. In comparison with some similar style restaurants where...More

Good service, great atmosphere. Food was tasty too although a little uninspiring - that may seem a harsh but there are quite a few outstanding restaurants in the area that it isn't the leader that it perhaps could be with a little more effort on...More

We had a lovely romantic meal here on our first night in Brighton. The wine and the cocktails were brilliant and the fish was brilliantly cooked and fresh. Only down side was the slow arrival of our main sharer. However, it didn't detract from the...More

Sat at outside table for pre-dinner drink but didn't have a clue about what to choose from the extensive wine list so asked the help of one of the staff - very helpful and knowledgeable. Plumped for an organic Spanish white called Lovamor 12.5 abv...More

Every time we come to Plateau we are more and more impressed. We ate off the set menu, delicious starters and the crab Risotto with Trout is probably the best Risotto I have ever had. We tried a fantastic orange wine too that was recommended...More

We popped in here yesterday to escape the rain and get some drinks (and we hoped a little snack). As it was between 3-6 they only offered olives or bread and butter which was a shame as we had hoped to have a bit more...More

Had a good dinner at this staple French Bistro outlet right in the centre of Brighton. Have eaten here once, and had pre-dinner wine on many occasions. The dinner this time was unpretentious and of excellent quality. Fresh oysters, a great platter of pork belly,...More

Description
Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
