We were at the Brighton race course and as the Pub is only a stones throw away it was the obvious choice especially after reading all the excellent reviews, We was surprised to find the bar empty but people soon started to come in, Four of us in total all ordered and paid for our meal at the bar and... Small traditional pub next to Brighton racecourse. We popped in for a quick lunch on a quiet Monday and had the place to ourselves (though probably packed on race days). Delicious baked goat's cheese & beetroot salad with sweet-potato chips. Excellent and a very pleasant surprise.

Can not fault the food at this friendly, cosy pub. The food is delicious and plentiful, lovely fresh vegetables and super crisp roast tatties, hits the spot after a busy Saturday. Will keep coming back again and again. They also do a nice pint!

I took my father here for Sunday lunch and was really impressed with everything about the whole experience. The pub/restaurant is situated in a good position opposite the Brighton Racecourse and is only a couple of hundred yards from Brighton General Hospital. Access is good, including for the disabled (there is a small step down - about 2 inches -... More

Had intended having lunch at the garden centre opposite. Luckily - as it turned out - half of their menu was unavailable so we decided to try the Fox on the Downs opposite, having heard good things about their food. We found a (free!) parking space very close by but, if needs be, you could park in the garden centre... More

Very nice roast. Lovely and fresh-tasting. Plenty of choice. If I had to nit pick...it would be that I prefer home made yorkshires to frozen...but...it was very nice regardless and I would recommend.
