Bustling restaurant and great food. Cote still sets the benchmark for brasserie dining in Brighton. Good food in a good atmosphere with attentive service: all good!

Chicken liver parfait and calamari to start, parfait really tasty, calamari tasted frozen. Main’s pork belly which tasted really tough and presented awfully and sea bass which came cold - both were sent back and taken off the bill - thank youMore

We arrived around 3.45pm on Thursday 29th of February, as we arrived it was just after the brunch period. We were sitting at the window. we had a small table perfect for two but nothing more. Started with a pink lady apple juice and a...glass of red (house) The food was amazing, and I had a little bit of a wait for food around 12-15 minutes. Drinks came first after about 9 minutes little to long for non cocktail drinks, but it was worth the wait. Then our starters came out French onion soup + baked camembret was amazing combination would highly recommend. Our mains came shortly afterwards 2-3 minutes after we had finished our starter. We had a sea bass + sirloin they had an amazing flavour to them. Overall, our experience was quiet and lovely. We will definitely be coming back.More

What has gone wrong with Cote Brighton?? We've had several visits recently when attending events at The Dome and all of them have been poor, really poor. Inept staff, wrong cutlery on the table, incorrect drinks orders, and slow, really slow food orders arriving at...our tables. Cote Brighton was always the go-to place for pre-theatre supper, not any more guys, sorry 😐More

We went to cote for a late breakfast. On the several occasions we've been here before, it's been good service and good food. The restaurant was all but empty and we were shown to a table. Drinks (Champagne and coffee) came quickly. We had a...pretty long wait for the food to come - too long as they had few covers. We were not offered refills and had to ask for water. Eventually the food came. We were not asked for refills or sauces. We had to ask for water. They did not check in with us. The breakfast cassoulet was different and tasty. There French breakfast was an abomination - how a professional cook can ruin that. Scrambled eggs were raw (like soup). The black pudding, toast and mushrooms were all burned and cold too. They refunded the offending breakfast - but all I really had was the glass of champagne.More

We went for a dinner here as a well deserved treat. The staff were pleasant, service was fast and the food came quickly. Food was really nice and was a decent size portion - we left feeling comfortably full. Only complaint that there wasn't enough...bread with the chicken liver parfait!More

We visited here for an evening meal with friends. We opted for the fixed price menu. This was disappointing as at least three of the limited items were unavailable but we decided to go ahead. We were sat upstairs with only one waiter working and...as hard as he tried he was struggling to keep up. We had to wait ages for our drinks and then even longer for our food. When the soup finally arrived it was cold so was sent back. This took ages to reappear and when it did our friends who had the Charcuterie board had already finished. After a long wait our mains arrived. On the whole they were ok but my steak was cold and had to go back. Thankfully it turned up fairly quickly from its reheat. As already stated the food was average at best and the service was poor but we in no way blamed our waiter who did well considering he was flying solo. We bravely ordered more drinks and some desserts/coffees and these came within an acceptable time. Overall a very disappointing experience from a restaurant that we used to like a lot and seems to have fallen from grace. When presented with the bill our waiter had kindly removed one of the bottles of wine we ordered saying he was sorry for the poor experience but the service charge of 12.5% was still on there. We asked for this to be removed which it was and we opted to tip our waiter individually as he had tried very hard to keep us happy. This experience has certainly put us off returning which is a shame as we have had domestic good times and food here and we did enjoy visiting here. Sadly after speaking with others this does not seem to be an isolated incident so perhaps this is something needs to be addressed at management level.More

We were going to Theatre Royal to see a play, so booked for 5.45. There were 6 of us in the group. When we arrived, we were taken to our table, where we waited. And waited. And waited. After about 20 minutes of waiting (during...which time, not a single member of staff spoke to us), my husband flagged someone down to ask if we could order some drinks. We were told that someone would be along "in a few minutes". And then we waited for another 10 to 15 minutes. My husband then went up to the bar area to insist that someone come to serve us, which they (begrudgingly, it seemed!) did. Luckily, we had had plenty of time to decide on food so we were able to order everything at the same time. However, we were told that some food items (the vegan burger, for example) would take half an hour to cook. We did not think that was reasonable - especially for a burger! - but we thought that since it was only 6.30 at this point, there would be (just) enough time. Remember that we were due to be at the theatre afterwards. The show was due to start at 7.45pm and we wanted to get to the theatre as close to 7.30pm as possible. Our food arrived at 7.15pm. This meant that we had to rush eating. And some food items did not arrive for several more minutes. Had the food been of an acceptable quality, this would still have been pretty poor. But it was not. The chips were pleasant, but everything else was bland and uninspiring. Overall, very disappointing. It seems the restuarant trades on the location rather than on quality of food and service. Needless to say, we will not be going back.More

It was cold on the 15th january my son had booked a table for 2 at 7.30pm . We were welcomed by a man who shouted from the other end of the room Sit wherever you like! With a smile . We sat, and 6...very nice girls sat at the table next to us... 10 minutes later The waiter brought the girls some water and asked them what they wanted to drink . I thought we might be next, but he completely ignored us... After waiting for half an hour we left... I'm not sure they noticed us..😩More

We usually love Cote in Brighton and are regular guests.…however today the restaurant felt really cold!! Yes, it was a cold day, but for a restaurant to feel cold isn’t acceptable!?it should feel warm and welcom8ng. The food was up to its usual good standard...and the staff efficient and friendly,,,but…we ended up wearing our coats …looking around we observed that most customers did likewise!? It did rather spoil an otherwise good lunch! MaireMore

What a disaster. Booked for a lovely relaxing NYE meal with friends and were greeted with chaos, terrible service and substandard food. The dining room was packed, our table wasn’t ready and we had a 20min wait before we were seated. Had to constantly remind...our waiting staff to bring the fizz and wine we had ordered, long waits for food which when it did arrive had elements missing and was lukewarm. Tables around us all complaining and a a general intense atmosphere in the restaurant with so many unhappy customers. A shame as this place was a favourite. We won’t be back.More

Having booked a table for 8.15pm, we joined the queue outside (!) at 8.05. Finally entered the restaurant at 8.35, to be told we would have wait another 10 minutes. Bread and olives were bland, and our prawn starters had obviously been cooked, but were...served STONE COLD. Only cutlery we had at this point was a fork. Our mains didn’t arrive until 9.55. Bottle of water and glasses never arrived. At 10.30, we had a predicament..we had to leave at 10.40 to catch the last train home. Finally, we were able to order desserts, crème brûlée etc, which were served up with a huge SOUP SPOON! Our bill was reduced, as were those on the tables either side of us. Cote had booked in far too many people in, and were woefully short of staff. A VERY disappointing evening.More

We returned to Côte for New Year’s Eve 2023/24 celebrations, after a lovely NYE 2022/23. We will not be back! Hugely disappointing evening. Long waits times outside to get in to the restaurant despite having a reservation Long wait time for food Menu items unavailable...(despite being a limited set menu) Sides missing from main meal The kitchen seems to be the problem Côte need to send in a relief team to train the staff (or replace them!) Front of house team put under awful pressure, spending most of their time apologising to guests and chasing up food orders. Time Line 20:20 arrived 20:30 booked reservation time 20:55 seated 21:07 ordered (No prawns; no calamari, no steak!) 21:30 Bead & olives arrived 21:43 Starter arrived 22:45 Dinner arrived (Dauphinois were missing, got told run out and bought chips, but only after we asked why there were no potatoes. Belly pork was the fattiest I’ve ever had, with barely any pork) 23:10 Dessert arrived. Finally got out just in time to ring in the new year! Don’t bother going here.More
